The Inauguration of . . .

 

. . . Robin’s Saturday Night Off. 

            I hope.*

            I’ve been saying for . . . well, twenty months, approximately, give or take, that I Have to Spend Less Time on the Blog.  Have to learn to spend less time on the blog,   one of the problems being (as I have said before, anguishedly) that when I sit down to write an entry, it tends to take 1200-1500 words (night before last’s was 1800, as I recall) . . . and I continue to be ridden by the ‘ubi** known as the Every Night Entry, and it’s a mean ratbag.

            When in difficulties, be creative.  And so I wish to introduce you (technology permitting***) to the Saturday Night Guest Blog.

            This may last only as long as I can badger, screw, embezzle, or otherwise extract guest blogs out of people I know who can write clear English sentences and (preferably) have something to say in a bloggy sort of way.  But I can hope. † I’ve started the extortion process with my mods, †† two of which superlative women have already sent me posts.  

            And so to our inaugural address.  Allow me to present Jodi Meadows, Yarn Maniac, Ferret Woman, keeper of her own blog†††, and Climber of Mountains.  And just by the way it’s Jodi’s birthday today. ‡

 *  I’ve chosen Saturday for the excellent reason that Sunday is the morning I have to get up early and go ring bells. 

** ARRRRRRRRRGH WHAT A STRUGGLE.  (Maybe I can get a post out of it . . . )

***SUNSHINE readers will understand.  And yes, I’m very worried about my IQ after twenty months of nightly blog entries.  

† And continue to badger, screw, etc.  It may prove to be as much work to drag guest posts out of enough people to have a Saturday Night Guest Blog as to write them myself.  

†† And I’ve tightened the chains around Peter’s ankles.  It worked.  I’ve now got two succulent and nourishing posts from him in the freezer.

‡ No I am certainly not being clever!  I had no idea.  I was racing around (virtually) trying to figure out how to do this, since Saturday night had kind of sneaked up on me and then one of the other mods wished her a happy birthday and . . . WHAT?

violent hostility

. . . I’ve just wasted another half an hour of my life trying to get this piece of **** to stop stuffing its vertical line spacings. I have essentially failed, but too much white space is to be preferred to too little. I hope Blogmom can sort me out on this one, because I’m into ‘drop kick into eternity’ mode here. Apologies. I hope to be more au fait tomorrow.

Itty Bitty Tech Stuff

 

My New Blog Master has suggested Blogmom as friendlier. It does sound a little less Dungeons and Dragons.

She’s also turned off the you-have-to-log-in-to-comment thing (or if she hasn’t, tell me, because it hasn’t worked). But neither of us quite gets what the deal is: it’s a one shot, like signing in to lj. I think. It’s not like you have to pay money and have your own blog. The point of it is that it’s another spam/troll discourager. So we’ll leave it off for now, but the moment I start getting bombed, it goes on, and it stays on. Okay? I hope this is okay.
