We used to have Dunkin Donuts over here, but I don't think we do any more; and we have never had Tim Hortins. The only time I ever tried a cinnamon roll (thinking of "Sunshine", of course) was at Chicago Airport and, alas, it was horrid. More like a Danish pastry, which I have never liked.
I long to try (although not, I hasten to add, for breakfast) her "Bitter Chocolate Death", being a bitter-chocoholic, and I also think I'd like her "Death of Marat" pudding! Oh, and I want some of Mel's hash, please, and his chicken pot pie, and please, what is Succotash?

Well, according to the all-knowing wikipedia, it's a mixture of corn and lima beans and perhaps some sort of meat stuff, occasionally cooked into casserole. Huh. For some reason, I always thought it had something to do with sweet potatoes.
There's a place called Cinnabon that does primarily cinnamon rolls (giant ones too), and while some people swear by them, I've always found them a bit sweet. The best way, of course, is to just make 'em for yourself. It's a slightly sweetened yeast dough, formed into a rectangle, rolled with brown sugar, butter, cinnamon (and whatever other spices you want in there), and really whatever you feel like. I've had them made with apples, orange zest, walnuts, raisins (especially if you soak them in brandy first!). Usually there's an icing of some sort, either powdered sugar/milk/water, or cream cheese/powdered sugar.
Whenever I have my oven working again, I think I might want to try it with a bit of sourdough sponge... could be interesting. GAH I need an oven again! (short form, a mouse took up residence in the insulation of my oven....I'm sure you creative ladies can figure out what happened from there...*shudder*)

Yes, I've loved Chelsea buns since I first met them 3 decades ago in Sheffield, and I was just thinking that they sounded like Cinnamon rolls.

I knew you were going to say that. You like broccoli too, though, and all sorts of strange stuff....

I like broccoli too! Lima beans have so far escaped me, succotash I've had once and found too innocuous to be worth hating, I can only take small quantities of green pepper without indigestion but broccoli, when cooked right (i.e. still crunchy but not actually raw) is great. Don't, however, get me going on lentils and split peas.... We all have our pet peeves.

And lest anyone think I'm an unredeemable vegetable hater... I do love peas, and carrots, and spinach, and beans that aren't lima. Spinach is my favorite--raw or lightly steamed, with a good solid dash of vinegar... Mmm.

Now this is plain evil! Thank Heavens I'm so stuffed with food I couldn't get down a bite...(My husband drives taxi, and I have very odd hours quite independently of this - I seem to enjoy being awake at night!) I think this cinnamon bun/roll thing must be a "kanelbulle" in Swedish - in which case I've got some in the freezer...hm...Just now, though, I think I'll have some tea. (Since I don't really bake I'm avoiding the recipe-thread like the plague - only reading the names make me so hungry! My husband is the practical one, so when he has some time off from both his jobs, we will bake! I have a book full of recipes to try, and next I was thinking of baking cookies...Also I seem to be feeling slightly less sick, and can think of new - if modest - projects!)
Why, I feel all thin, sort of stretched, if you know what I mean, like butter that has been scraped over too much bread.

Thanks for the succotash recipe! That is definitely, positively, absolutely going on our menu - probably for tonight's supper, as a matter of fact. Lima beans are what's called broad beans over here, I think, and both Husband's and my favourite vegetable, I think. Yes, that recipe is definitely a keeper!
As for the cinnamon rolls, yes, they do sound very like our Chelsea buns. In fact, the version that our local supermarket sells obviously are cinnamon rolls under another name, since they have cinnamon in the filling! Not iced, though - that would be gilding the lily! Arguably glazed with sugar-syrup when they come out of the oven, though.
But I don't think I could eat one the size of my head, though - or am I just big-headed?
