Fresh page for fresh introductions.
If you are new to Robin's forum then feel free to introduce yourself. We love to hear from other fans of Robin's work.
Please note: If you are a forum regular (in posts) it would be appreciated if you could keep your posts here to a bare minimum so we can hear the new young things. Thanks!

Hello!
I'm new, just got my lovely shiny new account approved *polishes shiny account* and thought I'd just say hi.
I've loved Robin's books since I stole my brother's copy of The Blue Sword as a young teen. I still have that copy, but bought a second in the same cover in Hay one year. The first copy has to be handled quite gently these days!
Also into reading most other fantasy especially children's fantasy, regency romance, plus a small travel writing and Antarctica exploration interest.
My 'to read' pile is currently 2ft high and competing with my Humax and DVD 'to watch' list not to mention the pile of console games I have 'to finish'..
Wish me luck!

Hi there! Welcome to the forum. Might want to see if you can make a dent in that to-be-read pile while you still can. As Shalea said, this is a very book-enabling group!

Realised in my list of 'stuff to do' I forgot to mention the cross stitch that lurks in the corner, I've only been working on the current project (Janlynn Fantasy Sampler) for a decade so it might take a little while to finish it

Welcome helbel - I am also a cross stitcher (Teresa Wentzler) with projects dragging on over a decade We have a Fibrecrafter discussion in the Talk section where you can talk about x-stitch etc. Come play!

Hello, I'm niakix, and I should actually be working on my papers for the sememster, but it is way too easy to get caught up in discussions about opera and planting and things. I'm in my 30s--In my former life I helped support my partner the farmer--I loved to come out and milk the goats and help make goat cheese and weed the gardens. But now, we are both in school, and I was taking a break from all of my papers which lead me to re-read "Outlaws," which lead me to THIS most sinful of all sinful past-times--web-forums and blogs! seems like a really good crowd, and I would be happy to be part of it--lots of real positive folks who are into art and music and thinking and becoming the best person they can be.

Hi!
I'm a high school sophomore, and I just recently found this site from the author's bio off of Chalice. I love Robin McKinley's books, especially The Hero and the Crown. I'm a big reader, mostly of fantasy. I am also, as noted, a fan of the Swallows and Amazons. All the characters are just so much fun to follow.
I sing in the musical in the fall, and work backstage in the spring. I look forwards to exploring this forum-it looks so nice!

I like pretzels and strawberry smoothies. I am obsessed with all things Beauty and the Beast and Beauty-and-the-Beast-ish. I am so glad to have found a forum of people who like the same things. Anyway, it's nice to be here.

Sounds like you'll fit in just perfectly! I, too, am a big fan of smoothies, pretzles (soft), and anything Beauty and the Beast! Welcome!

Hey, everyone. I stumbled upon these forums after finishing Chalice a week and a half ago (not my first Robin McKinley book, but undoubtedly my favorite). Being the type of person I happen to be, I haven't spoken up until now. This is due to a mix of lurker instincts and procrastination, which don't make for a very productive or very social combination. I'm sixteen years old, I live to read, am slowly clawing and stumbling my way through highschool, and have dreams of eventually becoming an editor that may or may not actually ever come to pass. I could, alternatively, become a recluse and live in my room for an indefinite period of time, potentially the rest of my life, but being an editor sounds more fun. Juuust a little bit. Other hobbies/interests (which range from 'slightly interested in' to 'somewhat fanatical about'; I tend to cycle through very specific interests from time to time) include writing (I'm not very good but I love anything to do with words), drawing (I'm not very good), singing (I'm not very good but I'll be damned if it isn't fun), roleplaying, playing video games, entertaining small children (I'm very good), procrasti-
I'll finish this later. Maybe. Probably not.

This was my dearest wish in secondary school, that everyone would _go_away_ and leave me alone to sleep and read.
It does pass (I counted down the years till university...) and whilst sleeping and reading are up there with shopping in my three favourite things to do, I do other stuff too now.

Hi there! I just joined and figured I should start here. My first book of Robin's was Sunshine, a few months ago, and since I fell in love with that I've been lurking here while steadily continuing to read all her other works. There's only a few I have left to get my hands on! Currently, if I had to pick, my favorite book by Robin is a three-way tie between Blue Sword (because of Harry), Sunshine (for being my first), and Outlaws (because of Little John and Cecil).
Right now I'm reading Wildwood Dancing by Juliet Marillier, found on Pollyanna's Booklist, and I am loving that.
It started out as a feeling, which then grew into a hope.

I thought I should introduce myself... I'm a horsehair braider and jeweler who lives in NM. I live on a farm way up in the mountains in the middle of nowhere, and raise goats and a few miniature horses. The other thing I do for a living is kind of crazy... I make authentic miniature tack for collectors. You can see a picture here and here. This is kind of intense work as I must work under magnification, so I really need the escape that reading provides. Robin's worlds are so compelling and real that I find myself reaching for her work again and again.
When I'm not working (or reading) I like to drive (my miniature horses), knit, and search for wild edible mushrooms in the surrounding forests.
This seems like such a nice forum, with many fascinating people. I really look forward to spending some time here!

Cool ... happy to meet you. I used to travel to NM regularly, northwest of Taos. I loved that part of the state.
The miniature tack is amazing. (as are the things people collect) I look forward to hearing your point of view.

Hi everyboby!
I've registred here quite a few weeks now, but I don't think I got to introduce myself yet (thanks for the reminder Beauty/Anna;))
My real name is Carla, but I'm always Jen, or Jen7waters in the internet, I turned 24 this year, I'm portuguese, living in Portugal, in the north, Oporto. That being told, forgive me for future/eventual english-related-mistakes;p
I'm an environment student, a vegetarian, a taurus, my favourite colour is green, and right now I'm the proud owner of the cutest fish in the world called Thirteen: The Shark, and also of a little yellow, kind of stupid, canary, Eddy.
I love to read, to draw, to bake, to watch BBC period dramas and to go shopping with my girls.
I love the classics. I'm a classic junkie. Jane Austen, all the Brontės, Dickens, Gaskell are amongst my favourite authors.
I just recently became a McKinley fan (better late than never) and it began because LibraryThing kept recommending her to me because of my favourite author being Juliet Marillier. Now that I read both I can't quite see the similarities, except that they both have the loveliest, strongest, female lead characters in fantasy and both like to re-tell fairy tales, and that I love both, utterly. Okay, maybe I can see the similarities... so LibraryThing kept recommending me Beauty and Deerskin most of all, I haven't read the last one yet, but I loved, LOVED, Beauty, I read it in one single afternoon. I don't think I ate or drank until it was over. I'm always so very gratefull to the universe when it makes me discover an author that turns out to become one of my favourite ones!:'D So, in a matter of weeks I collected almost every Robin McKinley book. I'm missing Chalice, because it hasn't come out in paperback yet;D
So I guess that's it for now, it's good to be here amongst other McKinley fans!
