YES!! Lick-daring ones!!!

(And as a regular paid-up member of the British Hedgehog Preservation Society--no, really!--I had gained the impression that hedgehog rescuers were required to have no sense of humour!)

YAY JULIA. Smile

I got a YAY!
And I did something HELPFUL! My perseverance in searching actually was USEFUL!
Hooray!
[As I sit here, grinning and munching on some G&B chocolate of my own that I bought this afternoon... I was at Stop and Shop with my friend Maria-- you see, I was having tea with her, and I mentioned that I haven't had scones in a long time. She knows how to make scones. And so we made scones, after running to Stop and Shop for ingredients... And while I was there, neither she nor I could quite resist buying some chocolate...] Smile

Rejoicing and great gladness.

Next time break up a bit of the chocolate and mix it INTO the scones. Chocolate chips and scones go well together.

And of course you are useful, Julia! You are an essential staple of the forum, it wouldn't be the same without you. Smile

Oooh, THAT'S a good idea! We used dried cherries and cinnamon and... um, something else? I'll look it up [aka go to the kitchen and look in the cabinet. Some spice that starts with c? I think?]. But chocolate in the scones... really must remember to do that next time.
:)

I'm "an essential staple of the forum"?! Now I feel honoured!
Hee.
Thank you, Black Bear.

Coriander? Or cardamon?

Cloves?

I haven't ever baked a scone (though can now say I've eaten one), but like cloves with the cinnamon in my gingerbread and pumpkin pie and such.

Well, there is coriander in the spice cabinet. Also cream of tartar, which we definitely did use. But there also is nutmeg. I think that might be it. Does that make sense, nutmeg and cinnamon and milk and baking soda and whole wheat flour and dried cherries, and... oh, sugar, duh. I think that was it? Oh, and butter.

Nutmeg or coriander... I really ought to email Maria and ask her... if I do, I'll let you know what she says.
