Sorry about the awkward - possibly slightly erronous - translation. (Some of the other lyrics are nearly unbearably sad, but I love this song...)

That's lovely. Thanks for posting it. I even looked up the movie. Talk about industrial strength pathos!

Back in 1974 when Kashmir was still the Happy Valley (you had only inhale deeply to partake of the happiness Wink) and had a tourist industry, I was staying on a houseboat on Lake Dal. One early morning I heard a man singing as his shikari floated by. I thought, what a lovely folk tune. Not long afterwards I found out it was the theme song to the 1973 hit movie Bobby. That tune, as well as the accursed 'Popcorn', followed me everywhere that summer.

(Blogmom) Oh goodness! I hope it wasn't Hum tum ek kamre mein band ho aur chaabi kojaye - I and you get locked in a room and the key gets lost (not quite as dirty a song as one could think, by the way! Smile )... But it's true, not only of India, but Pakistan also, that the music you here blasting all over the place is most likely to be Indian film music (although Indian films have been banned from the cinemas in Pakistan since the war 1965 - I think, might be mistaken about the year - but who cares?)

As for Kashmir, a Persian poet said: "If there is paradise on earth, it is here, it is here, it is here"... How wonderful that you've been there... Was it that beautiful?

You won't have time to answer that - but never mind! Smile

I'll take some gingerbread before the place closes down...

Why, I feel all thin, sort of stretched, if you know what I mean, like butter that has been scraped over too much bread.
