More books for the TBR list. Not enough time for the TBR list. Sigh . . .

Who are, fortunately, willing to trade an abbreviated hurtle for more sofa time.

Isn't it nice when puppies turn into dogs?? Very Happy

Definitely sound like wonderful books. If I ever have time to read again. (Editor sent me a book they're launching in the fall with the hope that I'll read it and blurb it. SIGH. I am actually working, not just sitting here twiddling my thumbs and waiting for her comments. And yet...even with a full-court-press behind it, a new writer's first book needs to be welcomed, if it's welcome-able. So I will read it.)

Voice: Svengali worked my voice over on Wednesday, trying one thing after another to make it more melodious and consistent. I still can't hear when he hears and thus can't (at home) correct myself as he corrects me when I become less melodious. And I'm to have the Schumann song completely mastered (mistressed?) by the next lesson.

Knitting. Well...the socks are now heeled, but a long way from being toed, and they look...ratty, actually. I don't know what made the random holes here and there; I do know what made the sudden bumps in the midst of knit rows and am trying to convince myself they can pass for ornamentation (the old "bug as feature" trick) but in fact...they are purl bumps where knit Vs should be, no more, no less. It's a good thing I'll be wearing them (if I ever get them finished) under jeans. Maybe I'll wear my old short boots, too, to cover them up completely.

I heard RJ Palacio being interviewed about WONDER on the radio last week (the Simon Mayo book club on R2), and was impressed. Hearing her describe the incident outside the ice cream parlour, which was the catalyst for writing WONDER, was just so moving.

Thanks for the suggestions of books to read. I hope the ME releases its grip on you soon. I need more books to occupy myself since I'm confined to the couch with a sprained ankle. Just finished Room, by Emma Donoghue and reread (for the umpteenth time) The Talisman Ring, by Georgette Heyer. The dog, unfortunately, does not like to curl up on the couch with me, unlike your hellhounds. She is also puzzled and slightly offended that I haven't been willing to take her for walks or outside lately, consigning those jobs to other family members. While they are trying to put on her leash, she keeps coming over to say, "But I want you to take me. Why won't you take me?"

All this talk of knitting has reminded me that I used to enjoy it back when I was in college, although it's been years since I did any. So, I've been out and purchased wool, needles and pattern and embarked on a big, thick over-cardigan type thingy. I've been looking for one in the shops for a while, but never found one that was exactly what I wanted, so I guess I'll have to knit it.

I downloaded MOCKINGBIRD for my Kindle and read it yesterday. It's good... perhaps not as good as EMoon's THE SPEED OF DARK, but still well worth reading.

Hmm. I think it's apples and oranges, myself.
