So, I'm probably in the minority, but I'm really looking forward to Robin finishing Shadows and the Pegasus books because I wish she'd finish the Air short stories.

Not that I won't enjoy the other books! Definitely not that. I just like her short stories a lot. Seeing her writing with Peter's is cool too. Although the way she talks about how organized he is makes me wonder if his stories are all done (ALL the books) and he's just waiting for her to catch up. I doubt it, but that's just the way it sounds when she writes about it on the blog.

Also fun about the short story books is the way they spawn other books. Fire gave us Chalice and Dragonhaven (and didn't she say Sunshine too?), Air gave us all the Pegasus books (and Shadows by association?) and maybe others! I guess Water didn't spawn a book, but... I would have been happy if it had!

I wish I could find Water. I was hoping it would be part of the doodle auction. Oh well.

You've not been able to find Water? Have you tried Alibris? They might not have any of the newer edition, but I'm betting you can find the old edition at least!

Water is available - several editions (hardcover, paperback), some new, some used - at Amazon.com and at Barnes & Noble's website. Amazon has a Kindle edition, B&N has a Nook edition.

I love the short stories too! I've been making jewelled bookmarks inspired by Twelve Dancing Princesses.

@Melissa:
Book Depository?

When I read Twelve Dancing Princesses as a child the ending always bothered me. The soldier chooses the eldest princess because he is old, but it was clear to me that the eldest princess was kind of dim and he should have married the youngest princess.

In my youthful mind since the youngest princess was the one who almost caught him all the times she was clearly smarter and a better match. When the eldest princess always ignored the youngest princess's warnings I took it to mean she was very foolish. Sometimes I wondered if he chose the eldest BECAUSE she was foolish, and that would be sad for everyone.

I've always thought that the eldest knew something was going on but didn't want anyone to pay attention to it as she was hoping that it would lead to a way to break the enchantment. I assume that the enchantment wouldn't let them actively help to break it but that they could refrain from mentioning things, so passively help.

Yes, the version I read it was clear that the eldest was the clever one. And I remember liking that the soldier made a sensible match rather than assuming that the youngest princess was therefore the prettiest and best. Smile
