So put it on. The zipper doesn’t have to close.

Yes. I was counting on this caveat. Wink

Is there a maximum number of entries per person? I'm what would be called a "Rennie"* and I have several costumes** that would be appropriate for this contest. I even have one that I think of as something that would be worn in Pegasus***.

* For anyone who doesn't know a Rennie is a person who goes to Renaissance Faires and dresses up. Also for anyone who doesn't know Rennies are Trekies in skirts (or so I've heard).

** Four is several...or is it five??

*** Note the "I" in the statement.

OK. This makes it more real, and I am imagining other people seeing me in this get-up. You guys won't *TELL* anyone, will you? Yikes. Well, at least it's other fans... that makes it better, right?

I'm happy to hear that the hellhounds decided food was worthwhile, after all, and before you had to start banging your head against the Aga. It does rather redeem the day when the food goes into the dog and not the garbage.

We have just had two days of ghastly hot weather--hopefully a trend broken for a while by the crashing thunderstorms that went through this evening--which is limiting the selection of suitable garments to summer ones. I'll have to expend a little thought on this. Smile

Ghastly hot weather also provides a good excuse for not wearing leather--even *short* leather--clothing. Very Happy

But this is the ONLY way to go to a Renaissance Faire. Otherwise you look like a tourist!

I'm glad that the zips don't have to close - my main problem is that I can no longer even get into the bits without zips. Like sleeves. So I hope it's going to be OK to post pics of Costumes I Have Honest-To-God Worn Out In Public In The Past.

Apologies for question only partially related to the competition...

I am actually going to be able to attend the signing,(YAY) but won't be able to be in fancy dress because I'll be coming straight from where I work. Will it be ok if I bring fancy dressed cupcakes, instead? They look better in pink than I do.

Don't worry, coming in fancy dress is in no way obligatory. And, unfortunately, we've just found out that Forbidden Planet doesn't want crumbs dropped on the floor in the room where the signing will be (what's the matter with these people, no sense of adventure... Smile). So we won't be able to serve cake on this particular occasion after all but there's nothing to stop any of the participants of this very select event who want to from heading for a cafe together afterwards. Also, we hope that we will have a few PEGASUS-and-cake parties, around the country, as happened in other parts of the world when the US edition launched. So we'll be asking for people who might like to get together in such a way soon.

I think it's great that you're coming on Thursday. Look forward to seeing you then. Smile

I don't know if I should mention this at all, but ... the denizens of KnitNight at IKnit positively welcome cake of all kinds!

Sounds as though at least some of you may have a good, sticky, time then, after the signing. Smile

And I had pink sparkly sugar sprinkles, too! *sad*

Clearly no understanding whatsoever of the natural and close relationship between books and cake! It's part of the Natural Order of Things! Smile

I might, just might, wear my shalwar kameez, which isn't really fancy dress (although it is not worn as standard if you aren't from the sub-Continent) but it is cool and flattering. Mind you, if I'm on grandmother duty, you're more likely to get slobbered-on T-shirt and hands-wiped-on cotton trousers!

Eep, but I'm looking forward to Thurssday!

I have shalwar kameez too, but mine isn't cool because it's a fine wool crepe... (But I did make it myself!)

I do often wear a sari (I have about 20 or so) to sing in with the nMC, but I refuse, utterly, to try to wear one on London Transport. Yes, I know all the Indian ladies do. They've had years more practise than I have, and I don't have anyone at home to help pin me in securely.

I am on grandmother duty, so will probably appear in slobbered-on T-shirt and hands-wiped-on cotton trousers! Ah well....

Unless, of course, I take shalwar kameez with me and change before I leave. Well, we shall see.
