How creative/brave/foolhardy/inspired are you? See Robin's blog post tonight for how to enter a new competition and then reply here if you're up for it.

hmmm... I hadn't even *thought* of artfully arranging clothes on the bed*... or even on the rose bush. Yup, I'm game. Nothing terribly outlandish I'm afraid, but with roses, lots of roses. And hopefully the rose bush will cooperate and provide props. Wink

* which may be the answer, if the frelling thing can't be persuaded to fit any more!

Like the others, I haven't had any bright ideas ... yet ... but I assume I might have one over the next few days.

Yes. I hope my frog jeans still fit, or you're stuck with the dress I wear to the occasional Renaissance Faire.

I will happily enter such a competiton. Now to decide which outlandish costume to use. Hmmmmm

Could it be a photo of me in a fancy dress constume from a few years ago - a hired outfit - or does it have to be something from my own wardrobe?

It just has to be something that you would wear to a book signing with our Hellgoddess - however you interpret that. So something you hired is fine. Smile

Well, as long as I don't actually have to *wear* it on the day, because none of my costumes fit me anymore apart from (possibly, though I think the sleeves are tight) my one-size-fits-all pseudo-mediaeval outfit... I've got quite a few pictures of me in various costumes from my Star-Trek-con-attending days...

Where do we post pics? Here?

sounds like a fun thing to do, since I can't afford the plane ticket from NZ for the occasion, and they wouldn't let me on the plane 6 months pregnant anyway! Would love to see what others 'would have worn'!

Actually, thinking about it...

Depending on temperature, I could always wear a) the Norse Crisis T-shirt (Futhark version), and/or b) the Dwarven Battle Bonnet. But you might all flee in terror if I did.

I'll do it! I have to take the admonition not to frighten the horses literally though, because I live on a farm with horses and there is no where to take a photo where a horse could not see me.

I can picture a dwarven battle helmet, but what on earth is a battle bonnet? Is there a difference?

(insert mental image of a Little House on the Prarie bonnet with chain-mail embroidery and possibly horns)

This is the Dwarven Battle Bonnet. Pattern from Ravelry - it cost me a whole $3!

*Raises hand* Question! When Robin mentioned two chances if you take the picture of your person, does that mean you can enter two photos, or you enter one photo and it goes into the pot twice? I'd love to silly-ise my graduation robes, but on the other hand, that corset's making puppy eyes too... Wink

Regardless, I'm in.

Would a separate thread, just for the photos, be a good idea?

Everyone hang onto their lovely photo-shoot ideas just a little bit longer. Things will soon be made plain. Smile

If you're going to make the rough places plain, will you make the crooked straight, too?

(Sorry, too many Decembers of Messiah. I had no foundation of biblical education as a child, so when I first visited Italy in 1971 and was hit - socked in the face - with all that ecclesiastical art, I went around all the time humming phrases alternately from Messiah and Jesus Christ, Superstar, my only points of reference.)

My son has been raised as well with no biblical education, unlike my Catholic childhood. It does rather leave holes in his comprehension of several thousand metaphors.

For me, the nearest equivalent experience to your having visited Italy, is mine in visiting Las Vegas: the part that deals with gambling is neither in my genes nor my brain. Being in LVNV was like an atheist with no biblical education visiting the Vatican. Pure incomprehension.

I was a codtume fancier as a wee child, and still am. You will never hear about my outfits not fit for family viewing.

I'm in!

I have to say that, even if I don't win, it's been hilarious watching my Stats count on Flickr for those three photos. The Dwarven Battle Bonnet pic alone has 791 views, most of which have come from here! My total 'views' count peaked on the 4th at 874 - I was half hoping it would pass 1000, but no such luck. Wink
