Thanks for the Doctor Who news. Yippee!

I've just started watching Veronica Mars again. So much fun!

And I've been enjoying Leverage as well.

But how many people watched Dollhouse?

I watched it--needs Whedon's writing to carry the concept, I think.

I watched the Oscars--then went out and saw Slumdog Millionaire and really loved it!

I really liked it - although the beginning was a little slow, and didn't quite grip me, when it got going - well, it certainly got going!

This isn't quite a spoiler - I'm not giving away a plot point or anything like that, but just in case and if I manage it - this was my favourite moment:

We've started watching Dune (the miniseries). Slightly confusing - but otherwise, so far so good.

(I haven't read the book, so I cannot comment on how it compares to it.)

I live in the US and currently I try not to miss the following tv shows: Bones, Medium, and Brothers & Sisters.

I also watch the Food Network a lot. And I recently bought a large screen TV because my landlord gave me a cable upgrade with no extra charge and now I get soooo many new channels...like TCM, IFC, Sundance, National Geographic, BBC-America, etc and even better, many of them are in high-def! Glorious!

Ironically, with the onslaught of new channels, my tv-watching has actually decreased dramatically. I rarely have it on now. I'm reading a lot more. WEIRD.

I liked The Dark Knight and I think it's worth seeing. It's good because the filmmakers focused more on the human aspects of the characters and while you get your fair share of high-octane car chases and things blowing up, you also get to see the people "behind their masks" and the tormented circumstances that made them who they are.

I've been watching the Let's Dance series which is part of the Comic Relief pregrammes this year (fundraising event for charities in Africa and the UK, this years slogan 'Do something Silly for Money').

These shows have celebs and comedians recreating well known dance scenes or music videos. It's fun to watch because many of them aren't that good. Some are scaredly good though. There's still a couple of weeks before the final. If you can, watch Paddy and Keiths 'Dirty Dancing' routine.

I loved the first Christian Bale (think that's the right guy; I'm dreadful with names) Batman movie for just that reason! Think it was Batman Begins.

I watched the first three episodes of "Dollhouse." I'm digging it so far...
I laughed really hard during the last episode though because the hipster genius dude was wearing a plaid shirt and striped vest...which was exactly what my husband was wearing that day.
Awesome.

I haven't seen Dollhouse but I've heard good reviews. It's just that there are way too many new tv shows this year and they're all variations on each other and I just don't have the time to give them all a chance. I heard The Mentalist was good too but seriously, how many more crime dramas do we need?! Wink

And with the US economy what it is - and yes, I've been hit too - I prefer watching comedy. So far, 30 Rock is my go-to show. And also because I feel like the Liz Lemon character is my soul twin.

I agree with you completely, Anna! Smile Somehow I liked Batman Begins more... And with the risk of sounding like that fellow in The Life of Brian (I'm Brian, and so's my wife!), so did my husband... It is hard to put one's finger on it exactly...And it isn't that I like Dark Knight less - it's that I liked Batman Begins more. Smile

(By the way - if you like the All Creatures Great & Small drama - give the books another go, I think you'll really like them. They are fun. Smile )

EDIT: I've been thinking - and perhaps it's simply that the first film has more Bruce Wayne - and I like Bruce Wayne. (as portrayed by Christian Bale)

I've started watching Cold Case. It's another Jerry Bruckheimer production, and although it's more serious even than CSI (and often on the depressing side), I've found myself concerned with the characters and enjoying the plots.

I love the movie August Rush. It is a fantasic movie --which I now own-- I have watched two or three times. And I have just resently watched the newer Music Man whith Kristen Chenoweth. Kristen Chenoweth is the only reason I watched it, and the only reason I liked it was because of her great performance.

Attention: Firefly/Serenity fans!

Castle is my new favourite program, Ep1 just showed in the US last week. It stars Nathan Fillion - Capt Mal in Firefly Smile

Here is the summary I wrote on my LJ:

Heres the premise: NF plays Richard Castle, a very successful crime novellist, who has a studious daughter, a manhunting mother (living with him) and writers block. He needs something new. And that something new turns out to be Detective Kate Beckett, a homicide detective who wants to talk to him about two murders, which appear to be copycats for two he has written in previous books. And while they are discussing it with him there is a third murder. There is a story here...... as well as a killer to find.........and his safe word is 'apples'

That being said, I'm still hoping Doctor Horrible wins that one...

I'm re-watching season one of doctor who with Christopher Eccleston, I love the "Are you my mummy?" episode—I screamed once, and gasped a few times—that episode is still scary to me, which means it is Fantastic.
