It’s cold again.

I could put this in italics and boldface . . . our high today was 6F, it's going to about -15F overnight with a worse windchill, and may not make it above 0F tomorrow. First week of January, why be surprised? The dogs don't want to linger at all outside, even Teddy who has a thing about eating snow, and I am REALLY GLAD we have a garage. But at least it's dry and it's too cold to snow.

And I frelling dream of a straight-leg jean with a waistline where the waistline on a human being is, and a zip fly.

I have found some after YEARS of hunting that actually fit pretty well--LL Bean straight-fit stretch denim jeans, straight leg, "sit at waist," pockets a little small but at least they are there. And they run true to size. I ordered a test pair, said "YES!!!" and then bought five more. My old jeans are seriously OLD and fraying badly at the hem, so these came just in time.

I would go mad with a button fly. I drink a lot of tea too. Smile

I gave up on jeans for many years because of not finding any that fit, and I can't cope with low waisted styles and having a draught round my middle. I have recently discovered Not Your Daughter's Jeans which are remarkably comfortable and fit very well. They used only to be imported from the States but now John Lewis stock them. (Sorry, this does sound like an ad but I'm not being paid, honest!)

Yes, that draught is nasty. I don't understand how, even in our relatively mild winters, they get worn with short tops .... brrrrr!

Several companies over here (mainstream) now offer the option of low/medium/high rise waists. Much nicer! (It's also nicer when they offer the "short leg" option because I hate adjusting the cuffs! Razz )

LL Bean. Frell. They started to have a UK outpost and then pulled out again after some recessionary anti-bulge a lot of years ago now. (We have Lands End and Orvis! Why can't we have LL Bean! Lands End HATES thin people! I've actually written to them a couple of times about this! And Orvis is just *frumpy*, although I do like some of their stuff. Not their jeans.) And customs import is INSANE (I've told you YOU PAY CUSTOMS ON THE PRICE OF THE *POSTAGE* AS WELL AS THE ITEM) and yes I could get an American friend to send me a sample pair but then RETURNing the wretched things if they DON'T fit . . .

I saw these in a department store here and actually tried on two styles--didn't like the fit enough to pay $100.00 for a pair of jeans.

I agree with you about Lands End, at least as far as bottoms go--I like their turtlenecks--and I've found that Orvis doesn't like thin people, either. (And frumpy describes most of the catalog, too.) Too bad about Bean's. Shipping charges did cross my mind, but I didn't even think about customs. Yuck. Sad

I like Lee straight leg relaxed fit, myself. I'll order them online when I can't find them locally--something I almost never do with clothes--because I love them that much.

They charge customs on ***postage***???? That's NUTS. Well, explains why so many UK folk used to beg me to mark their orders "gift" when I was working for the game company...
