I want that blog post. I also really want a picture of the electronic-keyboards-and-pedals setup (which, of course, will have me desperately wanting the same, even though I have neither the money nor the room...)
(No poster, please - see above about lacking room. I had to *not* buy a nice, 30"x50"x8" bookshelf at the local thrift store, the other day, because I don't have 30" of wall space. Nor is it sturdy enough to have sticking out into the room. *theatrical sob*)

Dear Oisin,
Please write that guest post for Robin. You promised. In OCTOBER. (Yes, I looked it up.) Robin sang. And yet we have no guest blog from you.
I understand that you have become quite proficient at wrangling/painting krakens and other assorted sea monsters, what with Octopus and Chandelier. But woe betide the poor soul who falls afoul of the forum knitting army. (They might knit Cthulhu and send him after you. Eeep. OR they might yarn-bomb your piano. Or your house. Or YOU.)
Also, if you don't write the guest post, I'll send my dad to sing. And to crash the cymbals from his drum kit... out of rhythm. With a metronome keeping proper time. And him not following it. On purpose. (He plays the piano, drums, and guitar quite well. But his musical abilities do not extend to singing.)
Looking forward to reading that guest post from you!
Sincerely,
Julia

You promised her a guest blog,
You really, really did!
You promised her a guest blog,
And then you went and hid
Among the corals and the fish
The octopi and such.
You thought you'd gotten safe away....
But WE remember much!
You promised her a guest blog,
And now we're on your trail...
If you thought hellhounds all she had,
You haven't heard us wail.
Wherever you may try to hide
Our pack will seek you out
We're armed with knitting needles
And yarn to wrap about.
So lest you wish to find yourself
All yarn-bombed in a tangle,
You'll write that guest-post promised her...
You will not let her dangle.

Dear Oisin,
The months in which you have failed to write a guest blog post for the Days In The Life Robin McKinley blog have been devastating. I cannot count the many hours I have spent wailing, frantically checking the blog, the archives, the footnotes, looking in vain for the promised post from the Grand, the Wonderful, the Masterful Lord Oisin. This is in part because I would not want to waste any minute counting when I could be refreshing the page, or scouring Robin's words for any hint of news.
In addition to my prolonged wailing (which frightened my cats at first, though they have since become accustomed to the noise, so constant is my distress), I have also gnashed my teeth into such a state that I have had to ring several dentists to see about getting a pair of dentures, and a back up pair should I wear those down as well. That is correct: my distress has been so palpable that I have had to see dentists. DENTISTS. Nevertheless, I have been willing in the past to endure these tortures, believing that any moment I could encounter the Blog Post From The Most Splendid Oisin.
Many days have passed since that hope could sustain me.
This cannot go on. As it is, my poor nerves are frayed, and my heart simply cannot take the stress of disappointment any longer. I fear that soon, I shall wither away to nothingness, all from the despair of never seeing the Long Promised And Awaited Oisin Guest Post. I can no longer even muster the strength to wail, let alone gnash. Instead, I am forced to sit by the window, and gaze outwards, like the useless and pathetic Victorian women of days long past. This is the state your negligence has induced.
It is therefore that I write this, to plead with you to take it into your hands to write something for Days In The Life, and finally to set my mind at ease. Please, restore the balance in my worldview, and fulfill the expectations of your wonderful words. I fear that it is not me alone who has suffered this way. My heart would go out to those who have also been lost, left to search futilely for the Guest Post, if I did not fear that it would over tax the organ.
I will continue to look for your post...until I collapse into the deepest, darkest abyss of never fulfilled hope, my sorrow expanding like a black hole until it covers the world, ultimately destroying everyone and everything. Including your precious organ. And your computer. And your keyboards. Oh, and all tea everywhere.
Fondly,
athenapallas87

For some reason I now have a mad vision of dozens—nay, hundreds!—of forum members and other blog readers dancing about in Castle Anthrax squealing, "A Guest Blog! A Guest Blog! And then the [censored]!"
But since I am not at all creative, all I can do is bring out the Large Wooden Spoon of Good Behaviour, and state in my best Dread Mom Voice, "Oisin! You promised! And you know what happens to bad little boys who break their promises, don't you? Don't you???"

Oisin, please write us a guest post! Please. I've spent a great deal of time (at least 3.6 minutes) trying to think of clever and erudite threats to coerce you into writing this. But...after a brief consideration of possibly arranging for the auditions portion of next year's American Idol to be held in your hall closet (we'll just have to make some teensy alterations first, in the interests of space for all of your new, tone-deaf friends)...I've realized that I'm just not that clever or erudite.
So please, please write for us. We think you're marvelous, in an understated and unassuming sort of way, and it will brighten our day immensely. If you make any factual or grammatical errors, we promise not to say anything. Just tell us a story, pleeeeeease?

Dear Mr. Oisin,
I understand that you are very busy, and have been even busier of late, with a musical theater program to run and all.
However, if you even read 2 of Ms. McKinley's (sorry for the formality, but I don't know either of you for real, and feel weird using just first names--even blog names!) posts, you would see that she is also extremely busy--and she writes these suckers every night!
Also, you may bring up the fact that Ms. McKinley is a writer by trade, while you are a musician. Well, my husband is a musician, too, and I've seen him write a 5 page academic paper in a single evening. This is just a guest blog post.
So here is what you need to do:
1. STOP whatever you are doing right now.
2. Write the guest blog post already!
3. Then you may continue with your regularly scheduled life.
Thank you!
Libby

Well, the truth is that Robin completely ruined what I WAS going to say in order to harrass you (Oisin) into posting. My post was going to run along the lines of:
Dear Oisin,
I honestly don't really have any idea who you are... I've only been reading Robin's blog for a couple of weeks, and I just haven't had the time to go back through her old postings to figure it out. But, from the two weeks that I've been on here, I've seen that you figure fairly prominently in her posts, and that you clearly have something to do with singing and amateur theatre productions, and that Robin occasionally has tea with you. So, I would like to know more about you and what you do and what you think of amateur theatre productions (or whatever it is that you would post about). And besides, everyone else is really keen on it, especially Robin, so I really think you should... And you DID promise.
But now that Robin has explained exactly who you are, she kind of ruined my whole premise. Really, though, I'm even more interested in hearing from you now that I do know a bit more about you.

Oisin, please do the guest blog you promised. Three reasons follow:
1) I have a Very Whiny Cat and I'm not afraid to use him!
2) I play the harp. Harps are beautiful in sound, unless they are deliberately de-tuned for maximum dissonance.
3) I have a 4-year-old learning the violin.
I will record the cat, the harp, and the violin as a trio and send it to Robin to harass you with. Oh, and for a bonus, might throw in a track of the weeny spinet that hasn't been tuned in about four years. It's sounding nicely awful right now, to the extent that the voice student who'll be starting next week will be bringing her own keyboard. We'll be moving in a few months and I don't want to pay to tune the piano twice.
MwahahahahHAAAHHH! Just imagining this cacophony should have you frantically diving for your keyboard (the one on the computer!) to write that guest blog post for our beloved hellgoddess.
Very very sincerely, Rockharp

Dear Oisin,
You really should write a guest blog for all of us, especially about organs. Robin has left so many tantalizing clues about yours. And through some unfortunate mess, organ is pretty much the only instrument that is not covered by a full studio at my college. I would consider it a great addition to my musical education to learn about them.
On the other hand, should you fail to produce the promised blog entry, I shall gather whatever the English version of a college drumline is from a corps and have them warm up in your hallway, so you have to crawl around bass and tenor drums and cannot escape the 8's warm up. =)
Thanks, elainekaelar

Dear Oisin,
My entreaty pales in comparison to the others that I've seen here, but Octopus sounds like it was a delightful success. I'd love to hear about what goes behind the scenes in putting something like that together, especially adventures in coral and kraken generation.
(whispers.. or you could type to us about what it's like to give a hellgoddess music lessons...
...well, that's probably not a good idea after all, thinking about possible ramifications.)
How about something that would encourage those of us who might want to take lessons but who are not, because we're too old, or too awful, or too whatever else... ?
Please?
Thank you

Oisin, cease thy wanderings, and as thy faerie bids thee:
Come grace us with thy wit and song, as she hath sure long bade thee.
Dismount not from her white horse Embarr, long hence gifted thee,
Lest by touching earth, all years spent in Tir-na-nog descend.
Speed thou hither, in Brigid's gift amaze us.
Come thou nigh, with druidic skill inform us,
Sit, here, speak, and in glorious rapture take us
That we may read thy words and in them take delight.
Come O Oisin, and do the Faerie's bidding!

Dear Oisin,
You seem a nice fellow. I believe you are the inspiration for many of my favorite blog posts filled with things that make me happy, such as references to Gluck or singing lessons. After reading these posts, I am inspired to attack my next day of teaching or choir rehearsal with renewed vigor and optimism as I rejoice in Robin's fine luck to have such excellent teachers.
But lately, dark forces have been at work on the blog and in this forum. I almost hesitate to mention it, as I'm sure a certain textile terrorist who claims to be a fellow music teacher will have me ferreted out and terrorized by a pack of librarian ninjas wearing balaclavas. Hand-knitted balaclavas in tasteful shades of plum and green. And perhaps legwarmers.
Frankly, Oisin, it is getting scary around here. Yes, I'm talking about the knitting. They say it's all just squares and so fun and wouldn't you like these whimsical needles, but it's lies, all lies. Next thing you know you're at the local craft store offering favors of a personal nature in exchange for a skein of silk/wool blend. I've seen where this leads and it is not pretty. There was even talk of knitting at the opera. At. The. Opera. That this cult has so quickly and so thoroughly penetrated every corner of the blog should be a clarion call for your takeover until reason has been restored. Unless you knit as well. In which case there is nothing left for me to do but whimper and moan until the stormtroopers arrive to beat me about the head with lightly used copies of "Knitting for Dummies".
I live in hope of your shining contribution to this increasingly dark and frightening place.
The only thing better than singing is more singing. - Ella Fitzgerald

Dear Oisin,
Please write us a guest post. I, too, have a viola and a violin, and I'm not afraid to use them, simultaneously if necessary.
Otherwise, we shall divert Hauptwerk.com and all its fulsome organistic sounds to the nether regions of the world and we won't share, and you won't be able to play your home-built computerised organ.
Also, do no underestimate the threat of the knitted cthulhus. En masse.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Dear Oisin,
I've been led to believe that a Guest Blog is long overdue.
This will not do!
Please remedy this situation post haste. I'd hate to have to herd you into it. I do have 3 working Border Collies and I am definitely not afraid to use them.
It may be worth noting that nothing gets past Brighid.

Dear Oisin,
I understand you've been busy with The Octopus - I've worked on Gilbert & Sullivan productions myself, and I do realise how much time that can take out of a person's life. I can't say I've ever had to paint a kraken, but I have had to make a cannon, and a full-size UK coat of arms (to hang over the judge's seat in Trial by Jury) AND a pair of 'kissing kippers'! (Look, we were doing a 1945 version of HMS Pinafore, OK? ...set on a submarine, HMS P94. Stop laughing at the back.)
However, you've known since October that you'd PROMISED to write a guest blog for Robin. That's nearly five months. I'm sure you could have been working on at least jotting down some notes in your Copious Spare Time in between organising Octopi (or whatever the plural of kraken is...).
Now, I'm only a Junior Member here, so I'm not going to HARASS you. I'm not going to ENTREAT you. I will just do my best second-alto-chorus-member swooning-at-your-feet number. And if you hold out too long, I'll get the knitting out. Ohhhh yes. It's been quite some time since I knitted a 'Musical Me' Gilderoy Lockhart doll, and I've almost expunged the memory, but I expect I could force myself to make another...
You Have Been Warned.
Love,
