So, I notice that when I'm looking at the main page of the forum, down at the bottom it shows you who is online and it has #users, #invisible users and #guests. This leads me to several questions:

What is the invisible users thing?
How does one use the invisible users thing?
Why would one want to use the invisible users thing?(I enjoy seeing who else is online at the same time)

You can, in your control panel, switch it so that other people cannot see your online status.

This would be useful if, say, you did not wish your fellow forumites to know just how much time you are spending online... Smile

1. It makes you invisible! No one can see you! (Not even the neon green mods. *sniff*)

2. It's under your control panel options > account settings > options. Should be fourth on the list.

3. I don't know. I like snooping on other people, too.

Thanks for the info. Another question, I'm trying to test it out but I still see my name on the list - shouldn't I be invisible even from myself? Or did I actually turn invisible? Can you see me?

I don't see myself now! Yay! Also, weird. I think I'm gonna go click it off now...

I've a related question - just out of pure, idle curiosity.

Quite often when I'm online I'm not listed as online. Like just now when I went back to the main menu I wasn't there...(Twilight Zone music)

I'm not a moderator, but I think it has to do with how quickly the "online users" list refreshes -- you don't appear in the list immediately but have to wait until it refreshes again.

Yes, but sometimes I have been on the list, have not left the forum, and then suddenly I'm gone from the list! And sometimes I'm on the list immediately. But never mind, as I said this is idle curiosity in its purest most unadulturated form - and I don't actually need to know. I'm fairly sure the curiosity won't kill me - I think...

No, I've noticed that too.
Spending too much time on the forum? What? Me? No....
