But the idea that readers forget supposedly favourite writers merely because said favourite writers don’t get a book out every year...

This is one reason why I appreciate hard-copy books so much. If I discover a book-and-or-author that I love that much, I'll buy it (the book, not the author...I wish) and then it'll be on my shelves for me to see next time I want a favorite. (In theory. In practice I have books kind of everywhere and depending on your storage methods, only a fraction of your collection might be visible at once.)

I know I keep moaning about being an introvert with a privacy fetish . . . nearly every night, and usually for over 1000 words. Cognitive dissonance alert.

This was a true LOL for me...and I'm trying to figure out how to pass it on, especially to my writer sister. I can email it to her (and point her to the blog - I don't know if she reads it)... but it's too big a quote to tweet, and it needs all of it for maximum effect. Ah well. And the reason it's a LOL is that I can do the same thing, though I don't blog (yet).

Re: forgetting favorite authors - I don't, but I do put them to the back of my mind if they seem to have stopped writing. Robin never did...not many, but a new book every year or so is plenty to keep me in touch. There are some authors who completely disappeared for a while, then I found out they were still around and still writing - like discovering a present that never got opened, a wonderful thrill. And others wrote one book and apparently disappeared - one turned out to be a pseudonym for two other authors I knew and liked, but they've never written together since the one book; others just seem to have had the one book in them and no more. But I remember them and keep an eye out for any new books or any news about them.

And re: Stardancer's comment - that's why I like ebooks, actually. I have this bad habit of intense culling every now and then, and having to re-buy a book for the second or third time gets really annoying. Not to mention _finding_ it when I get a sudden impulse to read it - books double-shelved and stacked sideways, in boxes, in stacks in various areas... If it's an ebook (non-DRM, and stored in several places, but taking up no physical room), I've got a fighting chance of finding it when I want it, and I'm unlikely to cull it.

Too sick to read blogs today, but I HAD to read this one.
And I hope it was curative.

Yes, it certainly helped.

Thanks for Kess.

Unfortunately I my life looks rather similar to the beginning of the plot line ...

I always look forward to her adventures, it helps me remember that life goes on. And hey, I already have a dog, so perhaps I'm a step ahead!

I just thought it might amuse you to know that I've started reading the Kes posts aloud to my boyfriend and friends. They really like them, as do I. Smile

Don't know if this has already been answered but...when SHADOWS is finished, do we get to have SHADOWS parties like we did for PEGASUS? Just curious... Smile

Oh, I'm one of those people who mysteriously loses books. I was giggling during that whole paragraph. I especially like the alligator eating one. I have had dogs literally eat library books when I was in elementary school *insert hysterical crying* but I think the most inexplicable was realizing I left one on cruise ship. There was no getting it back. Some I never figured out where they went.... I swore I gave them >.> but my best friend (aspiring Librarian) has it written down as last in my possession. *cries some more* I do love them! I'm just the type that hurts the ones I love.

Your question is very much appreciated for its enthusiasm, Sarahkay, even though it's a tad early in the scheme of things to be answerable at the moment. Smile
