Parts of New Thing have a retro sensibility, I feel, given the direction of Flowerhair's activities. Certain characters--female ones, of course--from a long long time ago popped into my brain along with the description of her situation in Book IV of the Epic. Snork! What fun!

As for housework, one of the universal problem areas of life--I'm beginning to think there should just be signs on the doors: "Don't look at the floors!" and "It's only dust, get over it." Dog hair is best ignored altogether. And under the right circumstances, visitors will be too busy noticing DOGS to register much of anything else. Smile

Hope you have fun, and emerge ready to wrap SHADOWS up into a nice, tidy, and well-laid-out package.

::bounce bounce bounce:: The story behind the New Thing makes me even happier Smile Smile Smile

And I meant to comment last night, but somehow didn't, that I totally want to read THOU ART DAMNED LIKE AN ILL-ROASTED EGG. With a title like that it has to be good, right?

I was already enjoying the New Thing, but now that I know it's being actively gamemastered (is that the word?) I'm quite excited to see what happens. Or what is engineered to happen, really Very Happy

Even irrelevant footnoted asides tend to go all floppy by next day. And then they’re WASTED.

And now I kind of want to see a blog post made up entirely of cut footnotes with no points of reference. You could collect them, especially if they're off the wall. You'd be keeping words out of the literary landfill by recycling (it sounded better in my head, though still better than talking about the literary dust bunnies I originally had there).

Also, I'm enjoying New Thing a good deal.

This is goodnight and not goodbye.

I love the new thing - it is quirky and can go off in any direction it chooses. Also how nice for you & Cathy to get together. She is a reader of the blog and knows about your housekeeping. Have fun.

Oh, that sounds funny! Pity the poor new person who stumbles on Robin's blog that day. Very Happy

And we’ve had a running conversation, also for years, about how we might somehow create an RPG for the blog, using some McKinley world or other, possibly one I make up specifically for the purpose. . .

Oh dear gods and angels.

I think my heart just stopped beating.

An RPG? Set in a McKinley world? Possibly even an URBAN FANTASY McKinley world, such as the one that appears to be unfolding in the New Thing?

YES PLEASE.

Point me in the direction of the work to help you make this happen, O Hellgoddess, and all my gaming powers (such as they are) will be yours (And BlackBear's) to command.

I am now off to spend the rest of the day smiling.

On a side note, I'm so glad you are enjoying the gamemastering/RPG aspects of the storytelling you are doing here! There's something wonderful about a shared story. I'm so happy we get to follow yours in this way!

Am loving New Thing and the story behind how you created it.

Might like "THOU ART DAMNED LIKE AN ILL-ROASTED EGG" on a tee-shirt. . . ?

I don't post very often but I'm always reading the blog and wishing you (and you-all blog readers) well.

Yes! What a great collaboration. I'm not a games player (participant?), so it's fascinating to read about Cathy's role in creating New Thing.

Hope you both have a wonderful time during her stay.

Ha, Katy--I half suspected I wasn't the only gamer nerd on this here forum!

More on this shortly.... The hitch will be stopping myself from talking too MUCH about RPG's, they comprise a large part of my brainspace on the best of days. Smile

I'm not a gamer, but I'm loving New Thing and also enjoyed the background info.

So glad to hear about the genesis of this project. Reading the first few episodes I couldn't quite relax into it since your talk about the skype discussion of the project, and how it was meant to be LESS work for you, had me convinced that this couldn't JUST be a straight piece of fiction, so I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop (possibly I am weird and paranoid). Now I know all (or at any rate enough) and am thoroughly enjoying it.
