Oh wow!

I'm reading the book of The Victorian Kitchen Garden, and seeing those pictures, with the glasshouses and all, was like walking into the book.

It looks so different from when I was there in May! Useless fact - the building housing Wisley scientists? Are not actually part of the garden. They were imported in the early 1900's from various different sites and joined together. All were derelict and due to be demolished.
This was a rose that was in bloom while we were there.

I keep meaning to go, but haven't yet got round to it! Thank you for the "virtual visit".

Thank you for the virtual visit! One of my favourite things about visiting family friends in the area is that they are always happy to take a trip out to RHS Wisley. I've thought for a while that I should pay them a visit again*, and your post has got me to thinking that perhaps garden-seasons should be a factor in when. Wink

*It's been four years, and when I say 'for a while' I mean this has weighed on my mind for about the last two of those years. The awful part of being a student is that there are not nearly funds or time enough to visit all of the people who ought to be visited. Sigh.

I love the cacti! One set of my grandparents lives in Tucson, Arizona, so I've seen some of those same cacti up close and, occasionally, a little too personal. But they're so different and cool.

I got to visit once in early May, right after their two-week-ish rainy period. Almost all of the cacti and other desert plants were blooming, the most vivid and unexpected colors. It was really lovely.

P.S. ALJR, I forgot to mention that your photos are wonderful!

Thank you, AJLR.
I've definitely added it to "gardens I want to visit."

Gardens are refreshing, aren't they. I'm glad that people enjoyed the post.

Mind you, looking out on bits of one's own garden after such a visit does tend to provoke feelings of 'Oh gods, I'll never get mine up to that level'. Smile

Absolutely breathtaking

Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect, it means you decided to look beyond the imperfections.
