I tweeted two entries to this contest so I'm a bit nervous that they're not showing up. I clicked on the #sillypeg hashtag link to make sure they posted correctly. When taken to that page, I discovered that I had to switch from viewing the "top" results to viewing "all" results and then my tweets showed up. Could this possibly be why you're not seeing any entries? If not, I need to try again, and I'm not sure what to do differently...

Thanks!

Don't worry, I think that's it. I can see yours and one other when I switch to "all." I'm guessing "top" shows only the people with the most *influence* or something. (Robin is going to yell about New Twitter when she discovers this.)

I am stunned that I was a winner in the crossword competition. SQUEEE! Thanks to all. Very Happy

It’s a teeny, ridiculous, middle-aged-and-still-kicking version of Do not go gentle.

Brava! And that IS a great poem.

Bats in the belfry might be amusing, but bats in the bedroom definitely would not be. YEEPS! ::buries head::

I certainly am. New Twitter should be taken out and buried in the Old Computer Crap Graveyard with a stake through its heart. I've just tweeted about this: every time I tried to bring up 'all' I'd get 'try again later' and dumped back at 'home'. I tried just 'refreshing' and nothing happened. And I thought 'top' tweets were most RECENT instead of OLDEST, for godssake? WTF with *oldest*? I've just looked again, and my so frelling called 'top' tweets are still ONLY mine (including one from today) and EMoon's. & when I asked for all it told me to try again later. . . .

I HATE NEW TWITTER.

Robin, I've emailed you with a screen capture of what comes up for me after a #sillypeg search.

This happens to me a lot, too. The #sillypeg search worked for me last night, but there have been numerous times when I've tried to search a hashtag, only to get the "try again later" thing, which seems to be related to nothing except the phases of the moon and the mood of six butterflies in the deepest Amazonian jungle. Razz

^ I suppose I could have a separate category of Invisible Costumes. What a silly idea.

This is a scary idea--invisible costumes would mean lots of naked pictures!

DO NOT WANT NAKED PICTURES!!! Eeep, the horrors (imagining self in invisible costume--notice lime-green for horror/sickness/ickness).

A cloak of invisibility, however, that includes making the person invisible...yeah, that'll work.

And they don't tell you WHICH six, which means you can't bribe them.

I was imagining something much tamer and more subtle. For example, dressing up for a costume party in jeans and a t-shirt, saying I'm a college student. Or one costume party (this wasn't really invisible, since I had a name tag) that had a pirate theme. I didn't have the time to find a "real" costume, so I put on a brown t-shirt and brown pants, then put a tag on my shirt that said, "The plank". Everyone knew that I'd been too lazy or busy to find something else, but they were entertained and appreciated my effort to fit the theme even with little costume-age.

This reminds me of a scene from a Buffy show.
Willow was dressed as Joan of Arc, and she explained to Zander that she had a close relationship with God. Oz, her then-boyfriend was standing beside her in his everyday-type clothes. Zander asked who he (Oz) was dressing up as--Oz flipped back one side of his overshirt to reveal a nametag on his Tshirt. It read "God." Smile

There was a slight outbreak of bats last night

I've just been catching up on the blog having been away for a month travelling across the Top End of Australia. Whilst walking down to Nitmiluck (Katherine Gorge) we came across several trees full of fruit bats resting through the heat of the day, and I immediately thought of you, Robin. I know these are very different to your house dwelling pippis, but I couldn't help but make the connection, and wonder how your exclusion processes were working. Still some work to go, I gather....

I'm reading backwards here, and have just come across something you said last week in a thread that is now locked for comment:

*** I missed out the waterlilies in the Crusaders’ Garden. I kept thinking about them today. There’s an enormous pond covered in waterlilies. They were closed up for the night when we were there. Speaking of awesome: wouldn’t I love to see that pond at midday. But I don’t think the garden is generally open to the hoi polloi.

Although it is now the Dry Season in the Top End, they had a monster Wet Season this year, and many of the billabongs and lagoons are still full of water, and absolutely covered with water lilies. And any hoi polloi can see them. This photo does the actual scene no justice, of course, but you can imagine the sea of lilies, and I offer it as small compensation for missing the Crusaders' Garden.
I'm stopping now - got to go to bed to be ready to go back to work tomorrow [sigh].

I don't know that you would call it a costume exactly but my niece has a perfectly ordinary sweatshirt with a printed on "Hello, my name is" tag reading "Inigo Montoya. You Killed My Father. Prepare to Die.".

I'm re-reading Rose Daughter at the moment (having bought a new copy at the signing last week - my original copy having disappeared somewhere in the house and considerable searching having failed to bring it to light) and I'm afraid I had to laugh when I came to the scene where Beauty is woken by a bat flying around her bedroom and landing in her lap - is this a case of life imitating art? Or a kind of hellgoddessly premonition?

Bah! Wretched thing double posted!!!

But I've thought of another possibility - maybe Hermione the Hellbat had had a sneaky read of Rose Daughter and decided to try reenacting the scene?

(sorry - can't sleep and it's resulting in bizarre, random thoughts...)

I've also been re-reading Rose Daughter and had the same thought about life imitating art!

What about a library with a colony of bats?
