Piece of a really big cake! How about we try a new twist of the New Deal, and promise a McKinley book in every pot?

Well, none of those are anywhere near me or any people I regularly visit, so I'm voting for the one that's in a random place I'd like to visit sometime. :> Then again, that would include the UK, because I definitely want to go back. Lots of places I want to go!

Um yeah.... why isn't "my living room" one of the choices? Smile

Indianapolis is nice and central, after all.

Indiana used to be known as the "Crossroads of America" for a good reason! Black Bear's living room sounds like a great idea. Or, perhaps, a nearby bookstore?

Yes, certainly!

I will even remove the clutter, unfold the concealed bed, and find some sheets. (Removing clutter can require LOTS of advance notice, but based on the anticipation for last week I'm sure we'll have that. Very Happy)

So far Black Bear and Santa Rosa are tied.

OK, people, what about Salt Lake? We have big tall mountains and creeks and rivers and the city is really lovely. More votes for Salt Lake!

Well. To be honest if they are the only choices then I may as well just fly to England. Razz (Much as I'd like to visit Black Bear's living room.)
On the way I'll drop in to Greece and collect Susan as well. Wink

Btw ... Australia's a much better option for the NZ fans too. Razz

Well I voted for Black Bear's living room as well, although we will have to learn what she came back with from the exotic pets exhibition.

b_twin_1, of course you should drop in to Greece if you're coming to Europe. You can stay for a good long time (undertake a study of Greek sheep products and get a grant for it): you can stay with me, eat Greek food and visit my favourite patisserie/confectionery store (just half a block away from my house - the joys of city living) for research purposes. And after you are exhausted and replete, I will go with you for a rest cure in England (museums, bookshops, galleries, bookshops, eateries, bookshops, did I say bookshops?)

Wonderful idea! I approve of sheep milk products and need to do some research! My aunt is from Greece - she said my {spinach and fetta triangle thingys whose greek name is forgotten} were some of the best she had ever tasted. Hehe.

Cool, you make good spanakotyropitakia! Do you put additional herbs in? Depending on what part of Greece you're from, you add marathos (fennel fronds), kafkalithra (the scientific name is Tordylium Officinales - apulum no idea if it has a common English name) even nettles or dandelions.

I knew it was a name I would have no ability to spell.... LOL
I can't recall what I used. It was only my first batch. And it was Christmas... But I used real spinach (over here they substitute silverbeet for spinach regularly) and sheep's fetta. I guess I used dill. (Now we have fennel growing in our garden I would use that) I should check the recipe I used ....

I'd vote for NYC, though that is probably the least likely place if we are trying to get Robin to be there too...
Or Black Bear's living room. A bit farther, but 'twould be worth it.
Really, realistically, I'm good with anywhere in NY, NJ, MA, and especially CT.
--Brilliant idea-- You know, if you all wanted to come hang out at my house/my library [the one MARK TWAIN founded. So hey, there's the link-- because Robin has a Twain quote on the blog, it follows that the signing must be at a library he founded a hundred years ago this October which just so happens to be in my town, and the library where I have worked since forever [well, five(?) years. So yep, forever] and everyone is just wonderful and so on.], that would work just marvelously. There we go.
Smile

oh wait. I have a friend in CO. And family in FL. AND in CA. This just might work after all! heehee.

Shoot... I should have found out where Black Bear lived before I voted. I voted Denver: I like mountains, and I have friends there I can stay with. But Black Bear's living room is significantly closer to me.

By the way, I understand how to purchase 4 million plus copies of Sunshine, but how do I purchase the remaining 0.65 of a book? I'd hate to not pull my whole weight on this thing.

I RULLLLE!!!!!!

I should mention, at this point, that my living room is rather small. Plus Robin gets dibs on use of the bedroom and upstairs bath. Smile But there's always the front porch for spillover...

Susan, I would tell you what I brought home from the exotics show, but then I'd have to kill ya. Smile Actually I'm just waiting to see if they survive the night before I get too attached and start posting photos. Amphibians are delicate little critters.

Well, there is this museum Black Bear might know, featuring a dinosaur bursting through the wall overlooking a handy bus route. Wouldn't it look lovely disguised as a Dragonhaven dragon? Possibly with a welcome sign. I'm sure Robin's marketing people would love the idea, and naturally our civic leaders would be thrilled to sponsor her visit as part of the program around their award-winning exhibit of multicultural dragon artefacts.^^

SNRRRKKKKK!!!

Yes, our very arts minded civic leaders--oh, wait, that was our LAST mayor! But the ladies guild put witches' hats on the dinos for Haunted House this year, so anything is possible...

Actually the exhibit I'm working on, opening in January, is all about castles and a lot of our attendant programming is fairy-tale related. God knows if we had an unlimited budget our education and programs department would be begging to buy Robin a plane ticket and pay her speaker fees. Smile But failing that, I consider it my duty to ensure that the reading area has a supply of McKinley books on hand. (Not that kids ever actually READ in our reading areas. But it might give them hints for what to go pick up at the library on the way out of the museum...)

Well, I voted for Black Bear's living room 'cause I could just stay with my parents! Very Happy

(My seven-year-old nephew, by the way, who has wanted to be a paleontologist since he was four, was completely blown away by the dinosaurs breaking through the wall at the museum! And wants to go back whenever he's up there visiting his grandparents.)

Black Bear's living room, definitely! It's close and I have friends all around that area that I could stay with. How brilliant of you to offer!

Now we just need to come up with a grass roots marketing campaign...how many books have sold already? What kind of ground do we need to cover? I'm thinking if we put our minds and various talents to it, we could have this done by, say, May?

Every day for the next year, I'm taking and posting at least one picture. Stop by and take a look!

I work at the local children's museum. The exhibit is called "LEGO Castle Adventure," and it'll be open Jan. 31. Smile It's a temp, so only will be in for 3 months and then after that it'll go tour for 5 years. So even those of you NOT in Indiana may have a chance to see it at some point...

Remember Worldcon 2010 is in Melbourne.......

Im planning on going, and have been for the last couple of years.

Cool! Looks like I may have to go so that I can meet up with a few people! Smile I'll bring the cake .... Wink

Yay! Friends! I was beginning to be worried that this was really only for serious geeks. And I'm too lazy.

Can we have a baby sheep as a mascot? September, right? Smile

LOL Baby sheep as a mascot... well hopefully I won't be bottle-rearing any next year! Which means I may have to bring either Cherry or Lily from this year.
You never know ..... Wink

Well sure you hope. But if you have any, bring 'em! If you don't, maybe I can. Your odds are better.....
