Very cool Black Bear. Soon as I get home I'm ready to start.
Now, what kind of cake to bake??? Well, for Robin one usually thinks chocolate. I feel a fit of creativity coming on. Thanks for a marvelous idea.

This sounds amazing! I don't know too many other people interested in fantasy, so this would be a great opportunity to meet others who share my interest.
Anyone in Brooklyn, NY interested in meeting on a Sunday?

all right. i get it. i think it's a lovely idea, and a lovely way to promote interest in the book, to get to meet fellow mckinleyphiles, and EAT CAKE all at the same time.
but to be honest, i am a card-carrying, screamingly far in (-to my cave, as opposed to the far left or far right of political extremists) and tattooed. introvert. while i'm sure you're all nice people, i don't WANT to get together with you to talk about the books--it's what i like about the blog and the forum. i'm here, and you're there, and i can ignore you or pay attention to you as much as i want without being rude.
so i'm inviting all other introverts to a special introvert party. i'm hosting it, (does that mean i get a free book?) but you don't have to rsvp. you don't have to even go anywhere, because it's at your place and my place and wherever else introvert mckinley fans are hiding out. bring your own cake, your book, and whatever else you'd like (something lovely to drink, like champagne?). you won't have to worry about what you're wearing, or how to get there without asking directions, or talk to anyone when you get there. you can just enjoy the heck out of your little book-lined cave. and of Pegasus, OF COURSE. and please, feel free to come and go, or stay, completely as you please.
we're easy here.

I like this idea; it'll allow those of us who don't live near anybody else, or can't travel, or are too shy to deal with real live people, or all of the above (me), to enjoy a virtual celebration.
ETA: And I preordered my copy of Pegasus because I can't count on the local stores to get it on time, so I should have it in a few days of the release date. [gets excited because that's next week ]

Nope.
We're easy here, too! Obviously there are lots of reasons a person might not want to meet up IRL; no one's saying you should feel pressured, or like you are somehow a terrible person if you don't want to get involved. This is just a bonus, something extra that hopefully does something good for Robin (helps generate interest in a book release, which in turn helps pay for the attic floor at third house and keeps the hellhounds in chicken and gravy) and does something good for Robin's fans who *would* like to meet and talk--about Pegasus, or the weather, or the price of tea in Uzbekistan--and eat cake together. Ideally, any gathering in a public place like a bookstore or library might also pull in some folks who may never have heard of Robin, but do like fantasy books, friendly people and cake. Double-super-bonus!
That said, there is nothing like a Party of One, you and your much-awaited copy of Pegasus, with a glass of champagne and a cake of one's own. I expect this is what 95% of our blog readers will be doing--but the other 5%, have at it!

Oh, what a fun idea! I shall organize a Vancouver, BC party (whether or not it's possible to get promotional stuff in Canada or not). Not much lead time, but hey, spontaneity is a good thing!

I would love to organize a PRC party here, but I don't know if there's anyone else in my corner of NW Florida.
