Vote for your favourite recipe.

As in Robin's post (link above) this is where to cast your own personal vote, for your favourite recipe among those entered for last week's competition(but not including the two recipes that have already won prizes). The voting will remain available for a week. The person who posted the recipe that gets the most votes will receive a signed copy of the golden edition of SUNSHINE from Robin.

Please note that you (your login) will only be able to vote once, so think carefully. Smile

PS My apologies to hhayes - when adding her recipe I missed the 'fluff' part of the title. So the title that is here is not meant to imply that Hilary is herself coloured pink. Smile

UPDATE for anyone having problems seeing the poll in order to vote:

Because time is short (voting ends tonight), please just send the name of the recipe for which you wish to vote directly to Blogmom. You can PM her from here or email her at blogmom@robinmckinleysblog.com. Thanks, and we're very sorry for the trouble!

Well, no-one is campaigning here, I see. How very restrained and grown-up of us all. Smile I wonder what it would be like in the world the rest of the time if people just read and assessed what the various candidates were offering in elections and then went quietly off to cast their vote... Better? Worse?

I'd rather vote for chocolate. Wink

I'm trying to be grown-up and not vote for my own recipe because if we all did that then there would be no winner, right?

I'm going to live vicariously through this and pick a recipe that my chocolate allergy would never allow me to eat.

Well, I voted for Steph's Death by Chocolate, partly because it has a limited number of ingredients, and very simple directions. I like to cook, but I'm not much for complex recipes. Give me a recipe I can easily memorize, like one pound chocolate, one dozen eggs, one pound butter, and one cup of sugar. What could possibly be simpler? OK, there is also the whipped cream for topping, and the espresso powder -- I'm not familiar with that, is it anything like normal instant coffee?

But I can certainly see doing this one, AS SOON as it gets cool enough to stand using the oven. We have had 2-1/2 weeks straight of 100+ temperatures (38C-40C), so baking is definitely on hold right now. I don't even actually want to eat a rich chocolate cake right now, let alone bake one. (how can it bake as a cake with no flour? I still don't quite understand, which is one reason I want to try it)

Thanks for voting for it! Espresso powder is also called instant espresso. It's like instant coffee, but it makes instant espresso instead. I used to put a shot of espresso in the cake and then one in the cream, but the instant powder is better in that it doesn't add extra liquid. Instant coffee would be a good substitute.

It really is a very easy cake to make. I promise it works!

Well I'm guessing this is where I vote.

If not, I tried looking for other possible places to do so.

I vote for Ford of Rivendell's Homemade Bread, because the name is great and homemade bread is something everyone can enjoy.

*Points up.* There's a poll at the top of this thread. That's where you vote. Wink

ETA: Unless you already did the poll and you're just sharing your choice down here. That's fine too!

I voted for mayasing's Bloody Doomsday Chocolate Raspberry Swirl (Vampire) Muffins.

Chocolate! Raspberry! Gothic breakfast food for those Monday morning blues when you want to strangle your coworker...just because. Plus, the name is kinda awesome and apropos.

We may only get to vote for one, but we get to try making any of them!!

The hard part was deciding which to vote for! So much seems to be based on my food-mood of the moment....which is definitely chocolate/fruit/alcohol/gooey. And there was lots of that to choose from! But it came down to mayasings' Vampire Muffins with the inject-the-fruit-filling variation -- because I actually baked a recipe for our Girls' True Blood Night inspired by Sunshine's Death of Marat that had a surprise fruit sauce filling in the middle. I didn't post it here because it involved cake-mix (I don't do cakes from scratch too well). The only real varation I made was to bake greased and floured egg-sized rocks (of the tumbled variety, and I washed them first!) in one of the layers. This was the only way I could think of to leave a cavity for the fruit sauce. Using brownies instead of cake sounds like they'd hold up much better. I'm definitely trying this one.

Thank you, whoever voted for the creme brulee, and I hope you try making it. Whoever you make it for will think you're a dessert culinary genius. Especially if you do the blowtorch part where your guests can see it.

...aaannd -- supermocha black holes took an early lead ... vampire muffins are pulling ahead by a nose ... glinda's chocolate decadence may be making a move ... get your votes down now, folks!

Maybe if we ever have a vote with this many choices again we should each vote for our three top preferences, or something, so the votes won't be as thinly scattered.

I didn't know it was even possible to put up a poll with 44 choices!

Has anybody calculated how many pounds of chocolate it would take to make them all? (You can even sub 1/4 c cocoa for flour in my pound cake, though actually I think it is better as a slightly lemony yellow cake than chocolate)

I voted for the vampire muffins, myself... but what I made was that Sooty Cake. I find it *so* hard to resist recipes with dark beer in them. And it is really, really good. Next I'd like to try the honey cake; I've never had one, and I have this huge jar of honey a volunteer gave me languishing on the counter. There are enough fascinating recipes here to keep my baking habit engaged for quite some time; thanks to all you very creative bakers for sharing.

(She probably says this in the recipe too, but just in case . . . remember that honey is VERY VARIABLE. Some is much more liquid than other(s). Adjust accordingly.)

Tonight I baked the honey cake - our honey behaved itself well, thankfully. My mother particularly likes this. The cake comes out very light with subtle flavorings - a well crafted recipe.
