Oh, good for you! Gold stars!
There are individuals in the writing community I would like to put on a ducking stool because they helped perpetrate the notion that anything on the internet should be free. (Going so far as to blithely declare that no one could make a living from writing fiction anyway, so we fiction writers shouldn't complain about internet theft, and just get busy making a living some other way.)

Ye gods, what a day. At least by now (almost midnight my time zone) the party across the way should have ended and you are, I hope, still peacefully asleep and not yet awake.
Very good to hear that it's probably not TIA; the kind of heat you're describing is likely to be part of the problem and additional fluids and 'lytes should help. Maybe also a fan?
Best wishes on all fronts.

I do hope you get results - and good results - from all those blood tests, so that you find out what is the matter, and the treatment of it can begin. The anxiety of not knowing must be so wearing on you both!

Indeed. The only time I saw one of the nurses, at the hospital department where I used to go, annoyed was when she was talking on the phone - apparently to some other nurse. She was discussing a patient, and wanted them to share medical information about this patient, so that the patient could get the best treatment possible - but apparently whoever she was talking to wasn't interested in doing that.

Thank you for that link; what a brilliant idea of Jason Robert Brown, and what an informative and clear way of explaining the issue. I'm going to make my children read it and forward it to a lot of people who either need to read it or have children who need to read it.
(I particularly liked this sentence:
arguing with teenagers is a zero-sum game, as I've learned from my experience on both ends of the argument. You insist on your right to think you know everything and do whatever you want, and anyone who corrects you or tries to educate you otherwise is the enemy
It resonates (loudly and with bells) with my current situation.)
(And just so I don't sound too self-righteous, I have to confess that I've been too impatient to wait for Doctor Who, so I have been downloading illegally. I justify it because I do buy the DVDs when they come out, so I will pay for these episodes. Eventually. I stand chastened.)

I'm keeping all fingers and toes crossed for Peter, and sending good healing vibes to you both.
I think I'll have to be more awake to discuss copyright violation and the internet, but I do know illegal downloading is a Bad Thing, and I don't do it. The Daughters refrain from doing so, as far as I can tell.
This bit right here though, it makes a whole lot of sense to me:
"just because technology makes doing a bad thing easier doesn't mean it's suddenly not a bad thing"
There's also the whole worry about illegal downloading sites having bad icky virusy stuff on them, which would be enough to keep me away even if it wasn't, you know, illegal...

To which the classic next line is, I suppose, 'and you should've seen what the girls were like!'.

But they will be able to, before long: http://www.nhscarerecords.nhs.uk/summary/
That's assuming, of course, that the scheme gets rolled out as planned. Bringing in very large IT projects on schedule have not been government strong points!
I hope you have a wonderful night's sleep tonight, that Peter is so hydrated he practically oozes, and that PEG II decides to behave from now on.

After my mother was bedfast, we went to the ER once because she had in a few hours become almost completely non-responsive. They diagnosed low sodium. After just a few hours on the saline IV, she was just fine again (well, relatively fine). The body becomes inefficient at absorbing the minerals it needs as it ages, so you have to be more careful about providing plenty. At least, if Peter has low rather than high BP, you don't walk a tightrope between enough sodium and too much. Hope all is going well.

Thanks for the link to the copyright discussion. I don't know Jason Robert Brown's work, but I give him credit for a lot of patience, as well as a good set of arguments. I cringe when I hear a phrase like "Information wants to be free!". Information doesn't care; cheapskates want it to be free. I hope he made an impression on that young woman.

Well, lots of information IS free. I don't have to pay anyone anything to inform you that July 4th, 1776 was the day the Declaration of Independence was signed, for example. Or to tell you that bicycles have two wheels, unlike cars, tricycles, or unicycles. On the other hand, someone writing a bicycle manual or a poem about the birth of the US would probably want some sort of reimbursement for it. Or as Jason Brown pointed out, if they don't want reimbursement, they should at least leave open the option for others to receive it.
