We're having unseasonably warm weather, too. It was 72 today! The rest of the week is looking slightly more reasonable for November, but I imagine all the plants are really confused. The light is right, and yet...

Man, I loved Sunshine's slang. It just felt so natural. It's not often you see made-up slang that doesn't feel forced. I can only imagine how much of a pain in the ass it must be to invent it and then follow its rules...and obviously that applies to any fictional language.
I doff my hat to you, Robin, for doing it (and doing it well)

Maybe your devoted fans could pay you back in part for the wonderful blog entries, photos etc. by starting a "Sunshine slang thread"/glossary etc. Something a little like the OED with the sentence/context in which the word first appears as part of the entry.

It would give all of us an excuse (as if we needed one) to read it again. Actually I've begun to make a little index for my rapidly disintegrating copy to keep track of where various characters appear.

Being a professional librarian has it's own sorts of nutsy-ness, in my case an obsession with organizing information.

Statements like this make me feel like maybe I was meant to go back to school to be a librarian, not a doctor (the latter of which I am currently doing). I am TOTAL list and info organization nut. Oh, well, too late! I'll just keep on as one of the reading masses and let you guardians of all things bookishness do your noble work. Smile

*twiddles her thumb* Well, well you see..I have lots of homework currently. I'm actually in homework triage mode, I have a major test too, and I don't have time to learn how to use Twitter just now. Forgive me please, oh Hellgoddess? I promise I'll learn soon.

I agree that we librarians have our own nutsy-ness, but mine is being willing to be silly in order to get the kids to pick up the books and read. It does work ...

It's November, and we're facing Tropical Storm Ida later tonight and tomorrow. Yeah, yeah, we're still in hurricane season (doesn't end until Nov. 30), but hurricanes and tropical storms don't usually hit this late in the season. So school is cancelled tomorrow, I rescheduled my dental appointment, and I convinced hubby he can just work from home tomorrow.

Good luck weathering the storm! And don't let your kids (pets?) be like college students. Though admittedly playing outside in the sunken gardens *was* probably the safest place for all of us....

We had killing frosts and early cold in October and are now into a nice Indian summer, a good thing for me since I'm even more behind than usual this year. I don't know if it will get my grass seed to germinate--it may have been frozen to death last month--but the other day I saw what looked like new green buds on the stems of my Endless Summer hydrangea. NOT a good idea.

Anyone who isn’t a professional writer, let alone two professional writers, probably cannot appreciate the extent to which we are dominated by paper.

Who remembers when smart terminals and then PCs were supposed to bring us all to the Paperless Office? HA!

I hope Ida has pretty well dissipated by the time it gets to your neck of the woods. Good luck!

So am I. Who's following me?!

Oh, and my geranium still has a flower, and my busy Lizzie (impatiens) is in bud, and my Christmas cactus is in bud, too! And it's Proper Parky, even here in London!

Yes--tweetfeeting. That was moi. I have a feeling that Robin's tweetfeet are going to become legendary Smile

As for Sunshine slang--am reading it again just now and enjoying the slangy bits all over again. Only trouble is that I had almost NO SLEEP last night, as I woke up sweating and trembling after a vampire nightmare. That'll teach me to watch 2 episodes of True Blood and then tackle Bo's lieutenants!

Luckily, Ida kind of fizzled out just before landfall. We had winds and rain last night, but by 9:00 am today things were pretty calm, at least where we are in the Panhandle. We had a good soaking rain rather than a deluge.

Thanks. That's a photo of sunset behind the tree in my back yard. Smile The photo without Twitter in front is here.
