Oh yay! The beginnings of another exciting story! I love the air spirits inside the bells, and especially how people know about them. They're important! I love it!

Oh, this is interesting - and I'll really be looking forward to it!
I'm also interested to know where this is in the queue?
And at how early a stage is it? Does your writing entail a lot of re-writing? Will we be able to recognize it when finished? How will it change - and why? It was fun to see and it will be fun to compare - it was lovely already, but I don't doubt you will add something indefinable to it to make it truly magical! (I don't expect answers to most of this - I'm merely curious, and no doubt they will all be answered in time...)
But please don't change the name - "The Bells of Mazahan" has a nice ring to it! (Yes, I know that's a silly, rather obvious pun - well if I could think of it, it would be! - but I actually mean it too: it has a magical sound to it...it's already perfect!)
Why, I feel all thin, sort of stretched, if you know what I mean, like butter that has been scraped over too much bread.

Here I am! Oh wait, you mean not a reading Angel, but a Blogmom Angel...
That story was lovely! I think it works as a short-story(as it is, I mean), though of course more would be equally fabulous! Bells! Horses! Damar! Yay! Something about it reminded me of the world of Chalice - not really, since the words used to describe things are so very different, but something in the tone of it...
"The center of every man's existence is a dream. Death, disease, insanity, are merely material accidents, like a toothache or a twisted ankle. That these brutal forces always besiege and often capture the citadel does not prove that they are the citadel."

Tathtalar didn’t want to go to a zharha and ring creepy bells for years and years. She wanted to go to a dlor, and ride lovely horses... horses were warm and breathing and glad to see you (or not). You knew where you were with horses.
Well, mostly;p
Robin this is soo lovely!! Every time you talk about a new book I'm in awful suspense, because how can any other books be as beautiful, as magically a heart-book as the crowd of yours who already jostle for space on my shelves... and each time I think that I shouldn't have worried because you introduce another new friend who gradually slips into that small group of comfort books which only a few authors can offer me.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!
Bonus is bells, which I've always felt are mystical, and well, it's Damar of course
And your creation skills with words (sigh) - "slithooni"! Just the word needed for those tricky mathematical patterns which translate into the squiggles we saw on your home tower's wall.
Hope you're not too frazzled by any blog hiccoughs - ::looks round:: I think we're all having scads of fun over here, aren't we folks?
Handing over homemade "Gooey chocolate cake" which my friend makes...(Will go, as drooling!)

This is gorgeous. It fills me with anticipation for the story and the unravelling of all the lovely threads you've set up. Thank you so much.
One question about the Damar books I've always wanted to ask, Robin, and this lovely piece brought to the forefront of my most untidy mind, was the language of Damar. How did you develop it? I am always fascinated by language. Being bilingual from birth, in two such different languages as English and Greek, it's fascinating to see how you have created so many words and I wondered if you had used some linguistics basis. For example, I always have to remind myself that sola is male and sol is female, because in in Greek (as in Italian and Spanish) the addition of the vowel at the end, and an -a or -y sound would denote the female. Did you sit down at any point and decide on language rules? Did you just go for sounds that were interesting? So I just wondered if and when you had the time, or wanted a new blog entry whether you would care to discuss this?

I had a Saturday night and Sunday off, so I snugged up with Chalice (which I have been hoarding like Dragon Gold till I had time to read it properly). Robin--you should know that I will now never eat a morsel of honey again without asking myself what it is good for (this is a Fantastic and Life Enhancing development!) I am now looking forward to reading it all over again, in case of nuggets having been missed in the headlong rush to devour it. And now I come here, and find a Whole New Damar story. Yippeeeeeeeee! I am so happy, intrigued, and longing to know more about bells and bell ringing patterns. I've obviously got to trawl backwards in the blog to find out about Pegasus too--because I'm in the dark there. <sighs> Yet more time away from own writing...procrastination is my middle name, so who am I kidding? As long as I get my 8-10k words a week in, I can allow myself a little forum indulgence--can't I?

Well, I was an angel last night ... But after the skit/concert they took my wings away, but of course I kept my harp. So now I'm simply a mortal with a harp again, sorry that I can't help.
The book excerpt is breath taking, as usual. Now there's another one that we'll all have to sit around and wait for. (taping foot.)

I'm pretty fond of "Herself" and "Robin-sol". The one is a tad bit overly formal, though...
