And note, says the hellgoddess threateningly, that anyone who does not respond in an expeditious manner will be hunted down and tortured mercilessly, to wit, you will be chained to one wall while someone sitting in a very comfy chair against the opposite wall will be reading your favourite McKinley book and smiling, and when you ask her what she’s smiling about she won’t tell you. Furthermore her reading lamp, perfectly placed for her, will be shining directly in your eyes, the way the dentist’s frelling spotlight always does when you’re in his chair.** Oh, and she’ll have a little side table drawn up next to her chair. What is it you like to eat and drink best? Right. That’s what’s on the table.

** Oh dreadful genderist assumptions. Well, yes, I am assuming a female reader. Blokes don’t do the curling up in comfy chairs thing the way women do in my admittedly limited experience, although they can certainly do intense focus on what they’re reading. And there are female dentists. I just don’t like to think about this.
