Reading Angel emailed me today to say that SSSHunt is going in for surgery on her leg tomorrow (Friday) morning at 8 am USA mountain time, and all candles and positive thoughts would be welcome.

::lights the special get well candle:: (it sits beside the perpetual Robin McKinley candle!)
thinking of you tonight and tomorrow. Hugs and best wishes
Healing thoughts with special protection petitions coming from me as well.
Lots of good wishes and healing thoughts coming your way. I will light a candle for you tomorrow. I hope it all comes to the best possible outcome for you.
Good vibes fired up and going out.
:sending good thoughts:
My thoughts are with you. Get well soon and may you have the best hospital experience possible.
Judith
I’ve been praying for you and I’ll do so again.

Candles lit and prayers sent up just now.
May all go well. :: lights candle ::
I’ve got a candle going, Reading Angel. [shine] All the best!
One thing I miss about lj is the ease of avatars, where I could turn on the candle one in a situation like this. Here, you’ll just have to believe me.
Sorry. Candle for SSSHunt.
It’s 3 am.
Also lovely pipe tune at full volume. ( only one volume on pipes)
Every possible good and positive thought going your way. Candles lit!
Healing light, clarity and strength for you, your surgical team & family.
Get well soon SSSHunt. I’m sending good thoughts and lighting candles.
Well, knock my socks off–it’s me.
Thank you SO much for keeping me in your thoughts, lighting candles–everything.
The surgery went well, as you can probably tell, or I wouldn’t feel up to writing this. It started at 8 and I was home by 12:30! This new anesthesia is amazing! You just, bink, wake up.
And they sent me home with good pain meds should the wound get painful, so I can knock it (the pain) on its ass.
I’m wearing a negative pressure vacuum bandage. Once they got in there part of the wound was too raggedy to graft, so this machine helps the wound grow, and makes it flatten out so that when I have the skin draft (could be over a month) there will be a nice flat surface to graft onto. Which is what we want.
I woke up thiis morning just as calm as I could be. I swear I could feel all my friends around me, and I wasn’t scared at all. You have no idea how much you have touched me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. (Getty teary now–but good tears.) Where would we be without our friends?
Thank you, Robin, for providing this place.
YAAAAAAAAAY. :) You’re very welcome.
Heal well. :)

Any news on the surgery? Did it go well, do you know? All good wishes…
Very glad it all went well for you; wishing you lots of rest and healing (and the dogs send you their best wishes too) :)
So happy it went OK. I hope the recovery goes as well and is as quick and painfree as possible.
Yaay! Good to know surgery went well. Sending good thoughts on speedy recovery.
May the healing be the best and your pain minimal. So glad it went so well today.
Yay on the good news!!!
Please take it very easy, and will continue to send healing-up-quickly vibes :-)
(and the dogs send you their best wishes too)
Thank you all so much–you guys are the best!
I was too late to get in on the before candles so I’m lighting an after candle for you. Prayers that you heal well, and painlessly.
Peace,
Rebecca
(note: A friend of mine recently went through surgery. She did well but had a hard time because no one told her how addictive her pain meds were. She first noticed when she stopped, then had to go back on and slowly stop to avoid withdraw. I hope that this story is unnecessary … )
No, it’s always good to be reminded about pain killers. Not taking them when you need them, however, can hinder healing. And I cannot find any arnica anywhere. Damn.
What I do is treat as needed the first little bit, then taper off as the pain does, but I always save some for the final tapering off. This way, if I have developed any dependence (not the same as addiction) it will be offset as I taper off for good. This has always worked for me. And of course I take the drugs only as prescribed–I don’t get creative. I really don’t like feeling out of it, so that helps, too. I never get cravings.
But that’s only because I’m very careful, and again, I appreciate the reminder.
And after all this I must say that I’m glad I have something for the pain because I woke up to a screaming leg in the middle of the night! Have it under control now, though.
Again, to all of you, thanks. And I hope you’ll still be around for the skin graft, which should come in about a month, they say.
Yay!
OhGood. So glad to hear that you are healing well, and that the surgery went okay and all.
Hugs and continued good thoughts and prayers.
–Julia
