Pegasus II  coming in 2014
Shadows coming in 2013

Connie!, lll

img_0584jpgsmall.jpgA nice uphill trot.  Ha.  Actually I think this is a slight hill, but the listing of the photographer has more to do with it.   This photographing moving horses business is a ratbag, and I have got to learn to trim and resize so I can use the ones where she’s running either into or out of the frame.  I could also level off the horizon. . . .

You can trim and resize in MS Paint, which should be free already on your computer. If you want, I will email you and tell you how. :) It’s easy peasy. I don’t think you can level things there, though. (But my photo editor lets me, and I will level things for you if you want. :)

I would LOVE a brief blast of using Paint. I don’t seem to have Photo Editor on one of the (four!) computers I use and I haven’t a CLUE about Paint. . . .

MS Paint…!!!

All right, all right, I’m being a bit unfair… but after having meticulously repaired photos PIXEL BY PIXEL on that program – and then discovering Photoshop – I’m done with it *forever*…

I do not WANT to meticulously repair photos pixel by pixel. I want something EASY I can do a little yanking around with.

That there’s a nice horse…. says the commenter who knows jack-all about horses! :) But it’s pretty obvious, really. I think I like this picture best of the four, listing photographer or no.

Comment by Robin

No, but I think ‘niceness’ is pretty recognisable, one mammal to another. :)

She is lovely. I’m not familiar with Connemaras–she seems very Arabian-shaped to me–wonderful neck. Is her skin black like an Arabian or lighter?
I had horses for years when I lived on a farm. Since moving to town, I do miss them dreadfully–especially the foals. I’m an odd sort–I’d rather groom a horse than ride her/him–I just love the funny faces they make when the brush and comb feels SOOOOOO good! Enjoy her. :)

They are very Arabian shaped. http://www.britishconnemaras.co.uk/ Scroll down to the bottom of the page for lots of pics.

Liking hanging around horses more than riding them is not that uncommon–I’m another one. I miss horses far more than I miss riding. It’s just that at this amazing moment I’m getting horses WITH riding.

Oh! Use iPhoto. It has really nice cropping and fixing tilt functions, and because it’s an Apple program it WORKS. I’mnot sure if it’s available for Windows, but it probably is.

And (jaw drops) yes, Connie is a LOVELY horse.

Q is right about i-Photo … I use it and Photoshop Elements … and for the photo stuff iPhoto is great. I have used the straighten out the tilt feature and just love it. I do get arty with the other(Ps), but that’s because I like seeing what some of my photos would look like as paintings. I also scan my art work into Photoshop and play with it.

I really believe many of your tech problems would evaporate with a Mac.

I also love mac.com … renamed last week to ??? You can set all your computers to synchronize files so that every computer you use has access to the latest version of any particular file … and you can access all your files from any computer with internet access, PC or Mac!

I can access one computer from another too. It’s not a mac feature. The problem is that I keep tidily turning computers OFF. You can be green . . . or you can fish out the file at the cottage from the mews after you forgot it AGAIN.

Well here I think she looks romantic, waving mane and tail, neat back legs. I too, like Black Bear no jack-all about horses in practice. Like any number of topics, I’ve read the books, but have no desire to walk the walk… But pictures like this, and a close-up view of my sister, passionate about riding since she was ten, make me fully appreciate those who practice the sport and have the actual human/animal or as you say mammal to mammal connection.

Comment by Robin

The basic and/or ultimate point is all about the relationship with the critter. The practical aspects of the relationship do depend on the KIND of critter, but it’s still . . . and with horses you get to RIDE them. The mere CONCEPT is enormously romantic. And for those of us who do it, the romance SURVIVES the tiresome aspects like the extra laundry and the way you always smell slightly of horse even after your bath (this is not true for someone who just takes lessons, but anyone who pursues the RELATIONSHIP), the TIME the MONEY the FALLING OFF ON YOUR HEAD, the SCIATICA from giving half halts (which is basically digging your butt very briefly into the horse’s spine) to horses even stiffer than you are, the . . .

I love riding, but not without the pre & post horse communing. Never could understand those immaculate & expensively dressed once-a-week riders who liked the horse presented to them in the school, and removed straight away afterwards. And owners who would rather gossip over coffee than be grooming and playing with their horses in field or stable… (shakes head unbelievingly)

Comment by Robin

YES. If I’m not covered in horsehair and mud, I’m not happy. :) And it takes me a RIDICULOUSLY long time to tack up.

Comment by Southdowner

Tacking up is a great opportunity to “talk” with your horse, isn’t it? I ask if they’re comfortable, tell them what I’m going to do and grumble with them as we struggle with cinching the girth round waist…

And on greys it’s sooo easy to spot grass stains etc

Comment by Robin

I’m the world’s slowest about tacking up (and down . . . ) because it’s your chance to hang out. :) Fortunately Connie likes being fussed over. I really feel cheated with the twitchy uncooperative ones . . . although give me enough time and I usually bring these around. :)

Oh, golly! Behold the incarnation of (one of) my dream horses! She has such a lovely head and gorgeous legs and…well, she’s just dreamy.

Comment by Robin

Yes, she is. . . . I’m going to have to run some of this off and take it to Jenny :) I don’t think she believes in computers. She’s got a yard with 25 horses in it, she doesn’t NEED to believe in computers.

She doesn’t have TIME to believe in computers!

Comment by Robin

LOL! *That* I understand!
