New Blog
Okay, here we go. Supposing I hit the right switch and we’re live. Welcome, come in, look around, make yourselves at home. I hope we’re all going to be very happy here.
There’s all kinds of stuff I was going to get done before we* made the switch from livejournal. But I haven’t. But I have begun to realise that if I wait till it’s just the way I want it I’ll never make the switch at all. ** So this is a Work in Progress. At the moment the only action there is is behind the ‘about’ link, so go look there. Please note actual pictures of actual hellhounds. These are baby hellhounds, of course. I will get photos of adult hellhounds up some day. Not to mention something a little less than eighteen years old (eeep) of me. But hey, it’s a start! See, we’re not imaginary/Creatures from the Black Lagoon***!
About Pollyanna’s† booklist: I’ve/we’ve talked about this back on lj.†† The idea–if it turns out to be workable–is that it’s just a kind of endless thread. Anybody who’s read something they want to recommend, please post a comment there, and–assuming it meets Pollyanna’s rule of sweetness and light–I’ll unscreen it. The point is that if all the book recs are in the same place we have a better chance of finding the one(s) we want. At least for the first decade or so, until it starts taking a week to read through. If it turns out to be popular I’ll have to think about organising it somehow . . . but I don’t have to think about it today. And its being Pollyanna’s booklist is because while I enjoy a good literary trashing as much as the next snippy reader, I don’t particularly want that energy hanging around my blog. I only want to give virtual house space to books you want to read and want to suggest other people read. And I’d be very glad if any of you save copies of your comments if you’d repost anything you wrote back on lj about good books. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s kept incomplete notes. Which you’ve furthermore lost half of.
* Which is to say I hope you’re all coming with me
** It could have been a lot closer to just the way I want it however. But it isn’t that either.
*** Well . . .
† Snork. I’ve only just noticed the single ‘l’ in Pollyanna. Multianna. Manyanna. I like it. But I don’t know how to change it myself, so it will have to wait till my Blog Master comes in from shovelling six foot of fresh snow off the driveway–sic–and looks at her emails. Alternatively we could lose the second ‘n’ too and have Polyana: many collections. Yes. Maybe when/if it gets so long I have to organise it into categories. . . .
†† I should perhaps say that my Blog Master wrote the intro, because I haven’t got around to it yet. But her grasp of irony is rich and true.

You did it!
Huzzah!
And I/we really would follow you anywhere.
Now, the question is whether I can figure out how to use this. Anyone have theories about how one logs in here??? (Attempts to log in result in a message telling me I don’t have a valid log-in name. That I knew.)
Judy in NY
Well if it’s any comfort I’m trying to figure out how I *answer.* I know I figured it out once before . . . Now let’s see what happens. . . .
Looking good so far! The hellhounds as puppies have an unbelievable level of adorableness. I look forward to seeing more pictures of them!
YAY!!! I’ve been waiting for the new blog to come up!!! Welcome to not-LJ land :-)
Brava! You beat me to it. Mine won’t go live for another two weeks or so.
Well done you!
Jessica
It’s here! And it’s luuurvely! I’m so glad. I’m adding the new site to my feedreader right now. So long, LJ!
~Flicka
I found it–it does appear to be online! Congratulations!
Q
Gracious, woman, that’s quite an “about” page! No wonder it took you so long to get this thing set up.
The dogs are (naturally) lovely creatures. And I like the wedding photos as well! :) Layout looks very nice. What does “comments will be closed in 2 days,” mean, does that mean that conversations in-progress may be truncated or just that new threads can’t be started after 2 days? (Though since I can’t tell yet if or how comments will or won’t be threaded, maybe I’ll just wait and see the answer to that one…
Hi! I’m commenting as a reply to your comment to see if it will thread.

Thanks jmeadows–now I’m replying to your reply to see how it goes. :) It’s like an adventure!
*high five*
Congratulations! What a wonderful resource for most things McKinley :)***CV
Yea! or is it Yay! or is it Yeah!
I never can tell.
Congratulations. The blog is wonderful, and the hellhounds are adorable.
I’m assuming Darkness is the black one.

Great to see the new blog! Looks great. Congrats!
Hmmm . . . based on comments posted on lj, this may not get through. But in the spirit of do or die–nice format! Great wedding picture! Sweet babies (C & D as innnocent puplets)! Congratulations to you and Blogmaster.

Yes I am ALSO confused. Presumably we’ll all figure it out eventually . . . I will be writing a whimper to my Blogmum here shortly. . . .
So that’s a baby hellhound. Thanks! (Found my way here from LJ.)
Galeni
Robin, I love the new blog!
How will you know who we all are on here?
And most importantly of all, which hellhound is which? Who’s the black one and who’s the tan one? =)
Jenny Rappaport (eiriene from Livejournal)
Aaaaaugh! I can’t figure out how I’m supposed to ANSWER!! My only option seems to be to hit ‘edit’ which doesn’t seem right AT ALL!!!! I’m afraid you’re all just going to have to sign your name(s) as you have done here, at least till everyone figures out the log in system which appears to have some glitches in it. I’ll have to post about this. . . .
And . . . please . . . their names are DARKNESS and Chaos . . . which one do you SUPPOSE is the BLACK one????
Despite the annoyance of having to remember that I can no longer check LJ for your updates, I am extremely pleased to see the new blog.
Actually, my first reaction was “Aww, HELLHOUNDS!” They are truly adorable and I only hope they’re doing better soon where their digestive issues are concerned.
Hallo:) I’ve never commented on your LJ but have been reading it for a while. I hope this works out for you; I love the idea of the Pol(l)yan(n)a page! The pictures are a lovely bonus–I can’t wait to see the grown up hellhounds.
I’m indebted to you not only for hours of delightful reading and leftover imaginings but also for the links about change-ringing. I’ve been interested in the practice ever since reading Dorothy Sayer’s “Nine Tailors” and have had a considerable amount of trouble finding examples of different rings. So, thanks.

welcome to the new blog! here’s hoping it’s not as torturous for you as lj…..
and all other thoughts are driven out of my head by PUPPY pictures……oh dear gods they were (and i’m sure are) so so very cute. makes me think what my own hellhound must have looked at if we’d had him as a puppy. (of course he is also still god damn cute even with the disaster that is his stomach upset meeting our back yard right now)
no idea if this thing is signing me in or not (ahhhhhhh new technology)
Raven (aka ravenedgewalker)
Hi! Bit of a pilgrim’s progress to get here – did Bunyan have a “terrifying technology test” of faith? Well, he should have! Hope you had a good morning’s ringing and that hellhounds, GI tract incuded, are feeling bright and happy.
Some nice coats and collars here http://www.jokke.com/files/jokke_eng.pdf which I’m tempted by for my beasties (and I thought you’d like the cover model :)
It’s here alright, and I love the fact that now I’ve got rss to it. Off to change link on my blog to point here.
that was me.
(Jax, in case it eats my name again)

Er–what?
Yeah! The old comment about white space is gone. [One good thing about being a non-writer; I don't have to be afraid of the blank page.] Darkness & Chaos are cuties.
I hadn’t been on the internet for a couple days & thought I’d just check that other blog link for a lark. Now off to the LJ blog to see what you said yesterday.
Beth/Squrfle
Welcome to Wordpress. I’ve commented on you LJ blog with the user name threeringedmoon.
(we are here! we are here! we are here! we are here! YOP!!!!!)

(PS – your dogs are different colors! I had visualized them as being almost identical. Wow!)
Oooh!!
Shiny new blog.
*realises has left trail of muddy footprints on the new blog and dashes off to get a mop and clean them up*
Drat, just realised I forgot to sign my comment about leaving muddy footprints on the shiny blog!
I’m Vikkik over on LJ.
It worked! I just discovered your live journal blog, and am glad it has a new home here, since I am not a live journaless myself. And the hellhound puppies! Aahhh soooo cuuuute! :)
Of course we’d follow you.
It’s a beautiful new blogsite!
I love the pics and the layout and the clean shiny feel — bravo.
– Kristin in MT
The new blog is great. I really like the pictures. Your hellhounds are adorable!
Just testing…I tried to register last night and never got the email it said I would get, but it’s occurred to me that this administrator account will maybe possibly work.
I just tried to register, but haven’t gotten the registration mail?

P.S. Got home from taking daughter to visit colleges to find that sprinklers had been turned off by gardeners a week ago and never turned on. :-(
On the other hand, Gloire de Dijon has five more blossoms and is headed up ad astra.
I’m excited about the new blog, Robin! I hope the switch from lj isn’t too painful or complicated for you — but I’m happy to read your posts no matter where they’re posted.
The pictures are great! Looking forward to Polly-whosit’s booklist and all! (Hellhounds = absolutely adorable, but you knew that already…)
-Nema
YAY!
I have already left two comments on the old lj entry, but I figured that I might as well congratulate you here as well!!!!
Huzzah for the new blog!
Oh, and you changed the hellhound picture[s]- just picture one now. But so CUTE!!! Awwwww!
You conquered the digital camera! And the scanner, I assume, as you uploaded the other pictures as well. Congratulations!
–Julia
*diesofsqueeyay*
The hellhounds are *gorgeous*. I want to snuggle them and tell them all about how beautiful they are. And they do look a lot like larger ferrets. How cute! (And silly.)
And *you* are beautiful too! You have such pretty flowy hair! The wedding picture is just perfect. Thank you for sharing with us!
Yay new blog!

As we say in Greece Kalosorises sto kainourgio sou spiti *. In my general misery of being unable to comment **, I, naturally thought that it was something that I had done. So relieved others are in the same boat. ***Welcome then and I hope the wrinkles are ironed out before you know it.
Susan from Athens****
*(or welcome to your new home -virtual of course)
**try stopping a Greek anytime she has something to say, even just, yay, well done!
*** not happy they can’t log in, but just that it isn’t only me incompetent and on the outside – paranoia accompanied by a persecution complex (does it show that I’ve been translating 19th century psychology texts all day?)
****Because I’m not sure the name on top will show.
Good job! Glad to see the new blog.
The pictures are gorgeous. I love blue dogs. One of my Danes was blue. Does Chaos still have what looks like a black mask in that picture? That’s a great story about their first day home.
But … but … “Comments for this post will be closed in 27 hours”? You mean I’ll no longer be able to disappear on a trip for weeks and come back and comment on old posts? :-(
Judith
Hi there! Happy New Blog Space!! Please tell me the old one will remain up for some time – I’m SO behind – I think I’m still somewhere in mid-March! And did you really expect us not to follow? Oh ye of little faith.
